Reservation: Park Air Systems AS reserves the right to make design changes,
additions to improvements in its products without obligation to
install such in products previously manufactured.
Limitations of use: The use of this manual is limited to the operation and maintenance
of the system stated in the Title Page. It shall not be used for
purposes of product manufacture.
Start without delay but do not touch the victim until the circuit is broken.
1. Break the electrical circuit by switching OFF or, if not possible, PROTECT
YOURSELF with dry insulating material and pull the victim clear of the conductor.
2. Lay the patient on his back and, if on slope, have the stomach
slightly lower than the chest.
3. Make a brief inspection of the mouth and throat and ensure that
they are clear of obvious obstruction.
5. Inhale, open your mouth wide, make an airtight seal over the
nose of the patient and blow. The operator’s cheek or the hand
supporting the chin can be used to seal the patient’s lips - Fig. B, or
if the nose is blocked, open the patient’s mouth using the hand
supporting the chin; open your mouth wide and make an airtight seal
over his mouth and blow - Fig. C. This may also be used as an
alternative to the mouth to nose technique provided that the nose is
held closed.
7. If the chest does not rise, check that the patient’s mouth and
throat are free of obstruction and the head is tilted backward as far
as possible. Ensure that the tongue is not blocking the throat. Blow
again.
This electronic equipment and its spare parts are built from semiconductor components,
which are sensitive to ESD. The equipment may be damaged or suffer from reduced
performance and lifetime if improperly handled during servicing and transportation.
WARRANTY
To obtain the Park Air Systems AS warranty the following precautions must be taken:
HANDLING PROCEDURE:
To achieved ESD-protection, the operator shall use a portable static-dissipative field kit
containing dissipative mat, wrist strap and ground cord or equivalent protection
connected to same potential as the equipment, see picture.
TRANSPORTATION PROCEDURE:
Electronic equipment, spare part modules or any faulty modules removed from the

bags or equivalents.
The electro static shielding package shall not be opened without operator and work area
being properly protected as stated above.
SHIPPING PRECAUTIONS
Do not ship the rack or subrack assemblies (i.e. transmitter sections) with
heavy modules inserted. All encapsulated modules must be pulled out and packed
separately before shipping.
All modules must be packed in electrostatic conductive (ESD) bags or boxes before
shipping.
REVISION NUMBERS
Modules used in the system, which have the same type of designation, may in particular
cases have different revision numbers.
This is due to the production of modules in different batches where certain changes have
taken place from one batch to the next.
Please contact us if you should need information on older revisions of modules for
servicing purposes.

The microprocessor unit performs an FFT-routine on the detected ILS signal and
calculates the depth of modulation of each ILS tone, DDM, SDM and RF level.
VOICE/IDENT modulation depth is analogue processed and read by the microprocessor
unit. The results are displayed digitally on a 32-character LCD display and on an analogue
meter. After "Power-on", DDM SDM and RF level are displayed simultaneously and the
meter displays RF level such that the user is quickly informed on the strength of the
signal under evaluation.
The primary parameters DDM, SDM and RF level can be displayed on the analogue meter,
with a choice from four pre-programmed sensitivity ranges at each parameter selected
from the keyboard.
Also battery status can be called from the keyboard. Display-warnings "UNDERRANGE"
and "OVERDRIVE" input signal are automatically displayed on the LCD during such
conditions.
Three analogue output channels are provided for external connections to recorders etc.
These can be connected to DDM, SDM, RF LEVEL and VOICE/IDENT at various sensitivity
ranges selected from the keyboard.
The following should be followed to use the Localizer or Glide Path antennas.
• The 2.5m long antenna two-part mast is mounted by loosening the wing-nut at the
interconnection of the two parts, and then by turning on the parts 180°. Tighten the
wing-nut properly.
• The RG-223 coaxial cable should be run through the upper part of the mast. Connect
the cable to the antenna BNC connector. Slide the antenna over the top of the mast.
Orientate the dipole parallel to the mast interconnection axis.
• To ensure vertical alignment of the mast, use the stick (erected) at lower part of the
mast, or on newer mast models, the spirit level.
NOTE: After change of LLZ/GP mode, turn instrument off/on to ensure correct operation.
Standard Mode:
Output to LCD and AUX is presented as the mean value of all measurements taken from
the starting of the mode.
No Average Mode:
Output to LCD and AUX is presented as "raw" data, i.e. 3 parameter calculations per
second.
If "0" is pressed only once, the instrument reverts to Standard Mode after approximately
45 seconds.
If a fast signal response time is required (i.e. during vehicle course recordings) No
Average Mode can be used. This mode is started by pressing "1".
By pressing "1" once more, the instrument reverts to Standard Mode. To show that the
No Average Mode is in use the LCD displays "NO AVERAGE" every five seconds.
• Set the correct frequency channel and select the LLZ/GP switch.
• Switch the power ON. The firmware implemented is displayed for 5 seconds.
• The battery voltage is monitored. If the voltage is below a pre-set limit (11.5V) the
LCD will flash BATTERY LOW. The battery voltage can be read on the LCD by pressing
BATT". The analogue meter will also indicate the voltage, the midscale is 12V and the
range is +/-2V.
• The measured values for DDM, SDM and RF LEVEL are displayed on the liquid crystal
display (LCD). The parameters are always displayed with maximum resolution. On the
analogue meter the RF signal level is indicated. If the level is outside the specified
dynamic range, the LCD will show RF UNDERRANGE or RF OVERDRIVE.
• Press "MOD 90" of "MOD 150" to the 90 Hz and 150 Hz depth of modulation on the
LCD. The parameter corresponding to the key will be shown on the analogue meter.
The range is 40% for Localizer and 80% for Glide Path.
• Press "IDENT" to read the VOICE/IDENT depth of modulation on the LCD and the
analogue meter. The range on the meter is 0-100%.
• Press "LIGHT" to switch on the LCD light. *) The light will be on for 30 seconds only
to reduce power consumption. To switch off the light before 30 seconds, press
"LIGHT" once more.
Sometimes it is more convenient to use the analogue meter to study the changing of one
of the parameter values. The DDM and SDM can be displayed with four different pre-set
ranges. In addition, the user can change the ranges.
• The parameter to be displayed and range are selected by pressing "DDM", "SDM" or
"RF" and one of the following "RANGE 1", "RANGE 2", "RANGE 3", "RANGE 4". The
different factory pre-set ranges are given in Table 1-1 and 1-2.
• The analogue meter will show the measured value of the parameter with the midscale
(nominal) value and range as indicated on the LCD. The LCD will also indicate the
measured value, and should be used as the most accurate reading.
• Press "CLEAR" to return to the standard parameter displays (DDM and SDM).
• The range of the analogue meter for DDM and SDM can be changed by the following
procedure:
• Press "SET" and "DDM" or "SDM" and select the range number by pressing one of
"RANGE 1" to "RANGE 4".
• Type in the midscale (nominal) value of the analogue meter using the numeric
buttons and the "." and "-". Press "ENTER" to terminate.
• Type in the range of the analogue meter using the numeric buttons and the "." ("-" is
ignored). Press "ENTER" to terminate. To keep the previous range, press "ENTER"
without using the numeric buttons.
• To an invalid entry, press "CLEAR". Repeat the sequence. Numbers greater than
99.99 are barred from entry.
There are three analogue outputs, which can be connected to a recorder. The outputs
correspond to the parameter selected for the analogue meter (refer to Table 1-3) and the
ranges are identical to the meter readings.

1.4 ILS FIELD TEST SET NM 3710 B WITH EXTERNAL DISPLAY DU 670
The instrument NM 3710 B can be used with the optional external display DU 670.
• Before connecting the display unit DU 670 to the main instrument, check that the
power switch on the instrument is in "OFF" position.
• Clamp the display unit to the antenna mast and connect the cable to the instrument
"AUX" output.
• The five parameters RF level, 90 Hz Mod. 150 Hz Mod. DDM and Battery voltage can
now be called sequentially by using the key located on the right hand side of the
display unit.
• Always switch to "OFF" before connecting or disconnecting the display unit from the
main instrument.
To charge the instrument's battery, the charger specified for the instrument must be
used. Check that the mains voltage is correct to operate the charger. Connect the
charger's multi-pin plug to the instrument's CHARGE input. The time to charge the
battery is typically 6 hours when the instrument is not in use.
