Comparative Aims

NAME : anmol deep singh SECTION: CE201

1 AIMS OF THREE DIFFERENT ORGANIZATION FORMED FOR REFORMS OR SEPERATION

1.1 . Propaganda Movement (Campaign for Reforms)

Filipino heroes and intellectuals started the propaganda movement in eighteen
hundreds, considered as first filipino nationalist movement

• Reinstate the former representation of the Philippines in the Cortes

Generales or Spanish Parliament - key objective of the movement to secure
the representation of filipinos in Spanish parliament to give voice in decision
making process

• Equality between filipinos and panish – to end racial and discrimination from
Spanish towards filipinos

• Reform in education – reforms in education system because ecucation will

help filipinos to actively participate in civic affairs

• Secularize the clergy by substituting clerics from secular or diocesan orders

for those who are members of religious orders - means promoting local
control and influence over religious matters

• Freedom of speech – the objective aims to overcome the limitation of

filipinos and dissatisfaction over the colonial governance

1.2 La Liga Filipina (socio-civic organization founded by Rizal himself)

Was founded by jose rizal to pursue reforms within the colonial system imposed by Spanish
authorities, group had as its ultimate purpose the promotion of unity.

• Promotion of Education - Promoting education and intellectual development among

its members to raise filipinos in social , economic and political positions.
• Mutual protection in every want and necessity - reflects the organization's
commitment to building a caring community where members may turn to one
another for support,
• defense against all violence and injustice of Spanish government - safeguarding its
members from various forms of abuse, oppression, and injustice that were prevalent
under Spanish colonial rule in the Philippines.
• encouragement of teaching, agriculture, and commerce
• combine the entire archipelago into a single, strong, uniform body- vision of
national unity, cohesion, and solidarity among the Filipino people.

1.3 KKK or Katipunan (Kataas-taasang Kanggalanggalangang Katipunan ng Mga Anak ng

Bayan)

• completely separate the Philippines from Spain after declaring the country’s
independence- Obtaining Philippine independence from Spanish colonial control
was the Katipunan's main goal.
• Teach the Filipinos how to avoid becoming religious fanatics by teaching them
decent manners, cleanliness, hygiene, and fine morals- It includes both individual
character development and the encouragement of a well-rounded, responsible
citizen
• To encourage Filipinos to take the initiative in fighting for the rights and welfare of
those who are poor and disadvantaged- this aim is to enable people to take up
roles as peace warriors and advocates for positive change

B I would choose complete separation from colonial country because after knowing the
struggles Philippines was going through at that time is unimaginable . voices was suppressed,
racial discrimination was there and people who want reforms was killed . So reforms and being
a province of spain never stand a chance for me. The main reason for a total separation is the
form of exploitation the country was subjected toforced labor, and cultural repression. The
inhabitants of the Philippines became deeply unhappy as a result. Exploitation of natural
resources of Philippines like British did to india. The Philippines was rich in resources, which the
Spanish colonial authority frequently exploited for Spain's gain while the native population's
standard of living barely changed. The Filipinos' complaints were made worse by this economic
disparities. Religious control of Spanish in Philippines The role the Catholic Church played in the
Philippines, which had a majority Catholic population, caused friction. The Spanish government
frequently repressed the religious and cultural practices that the Filipinos sought more
authority over.
