CULTURE, DIVERSITY
& INCLUSIVITY
The last 27 years at the Leeds Rhinos have impressed upon me a perpetuating culture
within a club which; metaphorically speaking, is a “Diverse, Inclusive and fertile owerbed
of opportunity.
The accumulation of all our people, rooted into the fabric of the Rhinos brand, have created
a beautiful mosaic of fullled potential on the vehicle of sport. We are inspired, educated
and entertained by the fruits of our connections, powered by the creativity of our
individuals. My role which lls me with gratitude each day.
“Changing lives through the power of Sport” is our purpose and AMT Headingley Stadium is
the garden in which our teams (Men, Women, Wheelchair, Physical Disability and Learning
Disability Rugby league teams - along with our Netball team) manifest their collective
potential.
We have a rich history and a deep heritage within the Landscape of Leeds, a city from which
we reach beyond our grasp with the mission of creating opportunities for ALL".
That garden is cultivated by our amazing Leeds Rhinos Foundation, sta, fans,
communities, sponsors, partners and stakeholders who together identify as “One Team,
Team Rhinos”.
We believe that there is nothing we can’t achieve or overcome when we are committed do
doing it together, in a space without barriers, limited only by the edges of imagination.
Jamie Jones-Buchanan
Director of Culture, Diversity and Inclusion
Leeds Rhinos Foundation is the ocial charity of Leeds Rhinos.
We deliver projects in the heart of the community by
harnessing the power of sport to make a lasting, positive
impact on individuals’ lives. As Leeds Rhinos’ charity we have a
unique opportunity to truly change lives through sport.
As we step into 2024 we will continue to focus on our Environmental, Social, and Governance
(ESG) strategy ensuring we commit to planet and community goals. We will continue to
decarbonise our operations by reducing the amount of energy consumed, installing solar
panels, and aspiring to recycle 65% of all waste produced by the Club with zero waste to
landll.
ESG will be very much BAU as we implement supply chain charters with key contractors and
suppliers. All new projects will have ESG at the heart of their design and we will continue to
support local communities and businesses to thrive.
During the new season we will raise ESG awareness by promoting sustainable travel and food
options to our spectators and demonstrate how making environmentally friendly changes
and choices can make a big dierence to their carbon footprint.
People are very much a key part of the growth of a sustainable business so it's important we
educate our colleagues with the ESG knowledge and skills. We listen to our people by under-
taking sta engagement surveys, we analyse their feedback, and take action. In a recent sta
engagement survey 93% of our sta told us that they love working at Leeds Rhinos and 97%
told us that they care about the Rhinos. We want to build on these results and at the same
time continue to do the right thing in a sustainable and well governed business
“Changing Lives Through Sport” – Sue Ward, Operations Director September 2023.
