ESSENTIAL QUESTION: What is the best way to express one’s self?

REAL-LIFE PERFORMANCE TASK: As last year’s winner of the El Indio: Poetry in Motion Contest,
you are invited to be a guest performer for this year’s award ceremonies for the said contest.
The organizers want you to share an original poem expressing heightened emotions and a
thought-provoking message and highlighting the discovery of one’s self through an entertaining
and inspiring performance. The poem must be thought-provoking, creative, and imaginative.
The delivery must be effective, dynamically delivered, and engaging.

 Explain how information from Anglo-American lyric poetry, songs, and poems contribute
to the theme of a particular literary selection.

culture, history, environment, or other factors.
 Analyze literature as a means of discovering the self.

FIRST QUARTERLY EXAM: October 19-21, 2022

NOTES:
1. Have a copy of this course outline.
2. Locate in our textbook the page numbers of the mentioned learning competencies.
3. Aside from the textbook, Sir Guerra will be using Grade 9 English books by other
publishing companies; thus, the English notebook is very important.
4. For the literature part, Sir Guerra will be announcing the selected literary text from
among the selections above. You have to read and highlight and answer the After
Reading questions before the class starts.
5. Exercises and activities are incorporated into the mentioned learning competencies.
6. All scaffolding tasks must be completed before doing the performance task which is to
be scheduled a week or two before the quarterly exam.
7. All outputs must be submitted primarily in the Google Classroom. Sir Guerra may decide
on another means of submitting the outputs when face-to-face classes happen.
8. Other learning competencies not mentioned will be discussed if time permits.
9. If there will be no classes for any reason, you will be noticed in advance. Adjustments
will be made to the schedule.
10. For other announcements and updates, regularly check our group chat. Kindly post your
questions and concerns in the group chat as well for Sir Guerra to answer.
