INFORMATION PLACE: Titov trg 5, Koper

In the academic year 2023/2024 University of Primorska Faculty of Humanities offers the following
undergraduate (academic) study programmes: Geography, Italian Studies, Communication and the
Media, Cultural Heritage, Intercultural Linguistic Mediation, Slovene Studies, History, and double-
discipline study programmes: Anthropology and Archeology.

Full-time study is carried out at the faculty's headquarters.

Double-discipline study programme Anthropology and study programme Cultural Heritage (Double-
discipline module) are offered in Slovene and English language.

STUDY PROGRAMME: GEOGRAPHY

TYPE OF STUDY PROGRAMME: ACADEMIC

DURATION: 3 YEARS / 180 ECTS

MODE OF THE STUDY: full-time study

MODULES:
- SINGLE-DISCIPLINE MODULE
- DOUBLE-DISCIPLINE MODULE

When applying, the candidate chooses one of the modules.

When applying, the candidate who chooses double-discipline module has to choose another double-
discipline module or double-discipline study programme.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Admission to the first year of study programme Geography shall be granted to candidates who have:
a) passed the general matura examination;
b) passed the vocational matura in one of the four-year secondary-school programmes that is
classified in:
- KLASIUS-P-16 classification: broad areas 03 or 05; or
- FORD classification: areas 1 or 5; or
- ARRS classification: area 6; or
- CERIF classification: area P or S;
and also passed a final examination in one of the general matura subjects: Geography; Sociology,
History, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Informatics, Computing, Economy; the selected subject cannot
be the same as one of the subjects passed in the framework of the vocational matura;
c) successfully completed any four-year secondary-school programme before 1 June 1995.

- overall performance in the general matura or final exam respectively: 70 % of points awarded,
- overall performance in secondary grades 3 and 4: 30 % of points awarded.

ENROLMENT IN A HIGHER YEAR OF STUDY (ACCORDING TO THE TRANSFER CRITERIA AMONG STUDY
PROGRAMMES AND CONDITIONS FOR ACCELERATED ADVANCEMENT)
Transferring between study programmes is possible according to the Higher Education Act, Criteria for
transferring between study programmes and other regulations of this field.
Transfer between study programmes is the enrolment in the higher year of the study programme, in
case of leaving the studies in the first (initial) study programme and continuation of studies in another
study programme of the same degree. The transition takes into account the comparability of the study
programmes and the completed study obligations of the candidate in the initial study programme. The
transition between study programmes is also enrolment of the graduate in the higher year study
programme of the same degree.
Transferring between study programmes is granted to candidates, provided that the following
conditions have been met:
- the candidate fulfils the requirements for admission to the study programme,
- the senate of the faculty or the competent faculty commission estimates that the candidate can be
recognized for at least half of the ECTS credit points obligations from the previous study
programme, which relate to the compulsory subjects of the study programme to which the
candidate is transferring;
- the completion of the initial study programme which the candidate is transferring from ensures
the acquisition of comparable competencies as those envisaged by the study programme.
Enrolment is also open to candidates of a comparable study programme abroad who have been, in the
process of recognition of their previous studies (in accordance with Assessment and Recognition of
Education Act), legally granted the right to continue their studies in the study programme.
Applications for transferring between study programmes are considered by the relevant commission. In
accordance with the Criteria for transferring between study programmes the commission takes into
account the comparability between study programmes and study obligations the candidate has

completed in the previous study programme, that can be recognized in this study programme. The
candidate may also be required to complete differential exams as defined by the relevant faculty
commission.

IN CASE OF ENROLMENT LIMITATION the candidates are selected according to average grade obtained during
the study programme they are transferring from. Candidates can apply for recognition of passed
examinations during previous study programme on the basis of the submission of the subject
curriculum. The decision on the recognition of examinations on the proposal of the department is made
by the senate of the faculty or the working body of the senate authorized by the senate, ie. competent
faculty commission.

TYPE OF STUDY PROGRAMME: ACADEMIC

DURATION: 3 YEARS / 180 ECTS

MODE OF THE STUDY: full-time study

Only a single-discipline module is announced in the Call for enrolment.
A single-discipline module has two modules: »BASIC ITALIAN MODULE« and »INTERMEDIATE ITALIAN MODULE«
When applying, the candidate chooses one of the modules.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Admission to the first year of study programme Italian Studies, Single-discipline Module, shall be granted
to the candidates who have:
a) passed the general matura examination;
b) passed the vocational matura in one of the four-year secondary-school programmes that is classified
in:
- KLASIUS-P-16 classification: broad area 02; or
- FORD classification: area 6; or
- ARRS classification: area 6; or
- CERIF classification: area H;
and also passed a final examination in one of the general matura subjects: English, French, Greek,
Italian, Latin, German, Russian, Spanish, Slovene as a second language (high school with Italian as a
language of instruction in the ethnically mixed area of Slovenian Istria); the selected subject cannot
be the same as the subject passed in the framework of the vocational matura;
c) successfully completed any four-year secondary-school programme before 1 June 1995.

Enrolment in the »Basic Italian Module« is possible for candidates without prior knowledge or with an
initial level of knowledge of the Italian language, while for enrolment in the »Intermediate Italian
Module« the foreknowledge of 350 hours of Italian language course is recommended.

the candidates who have:

- FORD classification: area 6; or
- ARRS classification: area 6; or
- CERIF classification: area H;
and also passed a final examination in one of the general matura subjects: English, French, Greek,
Italian, Latin, German, Russian, Spanish, Sociology, Philosophy, History, Geography, Economy,
Computing, Informatics, Slovene as a second language (high school with Italian as a language of

For successful enrolment in the study programme the foreknowledge of 420 hours of English language
course (B2 level) is recommended. In the frame of the Module »English-Italian« the study of Italian
language can be chosen on basic or advanced level. The Module »English-French« offers the study of

French language on basic level. The Module »English-Chinese« offers the study of Chinese language on
basic level.

ENROLMENT IN A HIGHER YEAR OF STUDY (ACCORDING TO THE TRANSFER CRITERIA AMONG STUDY
PROGRAMMES AND CONDITIONS FOR ACCELERATED ADVANCEMENT)
Candidates can transfer from first cycle programmes in the field of economics, business and
administration to the senior year of the professional bachelor study programme Management according
to the criteria for transfers between study programmes.
Transferring between study programmes is granted to candidates, provided that the following
conditions are met:
- the candidate fulfils the admission requirements for the study programme,
- both study programmes have comparable competences or learning outcomes and
- at least half of study obligations (in ECTS) from the first study programme that relate to the
compulsory courses of the proffesional bachelor study programme Management may be recognized
according to the criteria for recognition of knowledge and skills acquired before enrolment in the
programme.
Transfers are possible from all related higher education study programs in the EU countries.
Exams completed in the previous study programme are recognised based on submitted syllabus. Any
obligations which the candidate has completed in the previous program and which can be recognized
will be taken into account. The decision on the recognition as well as the study year of transfer will be
made by a competent commission.
Transferring between study programmes (enrolment in the second year of the study programme) is
granted also to candidates, who have completed a short-cycle higher vocational education in the field
of economics, business and administrative sciences. The competent commission can, depending on the
previously completed study programme, determine the missing obligations that the candidate must
additionally fulfil if he / she wants to graduate in the new programme.

IN CASE OF ENROLMENT LIMITATION the candidates are selected according to average grade obtained during
the study programme they are transferring from.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Admission to the first year of study programme Bioinformatics shall be granted to the candidates who
have:
a) passed the general matura examination;
b) passed the vocational matura in one of the four-year secondary-school programmes that is classified
in:
- KLASIUS-P-16 classification: broad area 05; or
- FORD classification: area 1; or
- ARRS classification: area 1; or
- CERIF classification: area P;
and also passed a final examination in the general matura subject Mathematics; insofar as the
aforementioned subject has already been taken within the framework of the vocational matura
examination, candidates must pass any other general matura subject; the selected subject cannot
be the same as one of the subjects passed in the framework of the vocational matura;
c) successfully completed any four-year secondary-school programme before 1 June 1995.

IN CASE OF ENROLMENT LIMITATION the candidates are selected according to overall performance in
the general matura, vocational matura or final examination results (70 % of points awarded) and overall
performance in secondary grades 3 and 4 (30 % of points awarded).

Transferring between study programmes is possible according to the Higher Education Act, Criteria for
transferring between study programmes and other regulations of this field.
Transfer between study programmes is the enrolment in the higher year of the study programme, in
case of leaving the studies in the first (initial) study programme and continuation of studies in another
study programme of the same degree. The transition takes into account the comparability of the study
programmes and the completed study obligations of the candidate in the initial study programme. The
transition between study programmes is also enrolment of the graduate in the higher year study
programme of the same degree.
Access to the second or third year of the study programme Bioinformatics on the basis of the Criteria
for transferring between study programmes is granted to candidates of a related first cycle study
programme or a pre-reform undergraduate study programme, provided that the following conditions
are met:
- the candidate fulfils the admission requirements for the study programme,
- the completion of the initial study programme which the candidate is transferring from ensures the
acquisition of comparable competencies as those envisaged by the study programme of
Bioinformatics,
- other conditions have also been met, in accordance with the Criteria for Transferring between study
programmes (comparable course structure, course requirements completed).
Applications for transferring between study programmes are considered by the relevant commission. In
accordance with the Criteria for transferring between study programmes the commission takes into
account the comparability between study programmes and study obligations the candidate has
completed in the previous study programme, that can be recognized in this study programme.

candidates of a related study programme abroad who have been, in the process of recognition of their
studies abroad, legally granted the right to continue their educational training in the study programme.

appropriate. Courses include endurance physical efforts and efforts in terms of strength and power

TEST OF MOTOR SKILLS


In order to enroll in the study programme all candidates are required to pass a test of motor skills.
Instructions for taking the test will be sent few days prior the test to the registered candidates at their
e-mail addresses listed in the application. All information on the test is published on the faculty's
website: www.fvz.upr.si.

In the first application period, the tests of motor skills will be held on 29 and 30 June 2023. If there will
be free places after the selection procedure in the first application period, the test of motor skills in the
second application period will be held on 7 September 2023.
In the frame of test of motor skills the faculty (UP FVZ) also recognizes certificates of tests of minimum
standards of motor skills performed at other institutions, if the tests are performed at an appropriate
higher education or research institution in the field of sports (eg UL Faculty of Sports). Candidates need
to submit to UP FVZ the appropriate certificate with the name and signature of the person who
performed the test and the stamp of the institution where the test was performed.

Successfully passed test of motor skills is valid only for the current year.

MEDICAL CERTIFICATE
All candidates registered within the first application period are required to submit by 1 June 2023 a
medical certificate of medical fitness to perform work in the field of sports and health, issued by the

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Admission to the first year of study programme Social Pedagogy shall be granted to the candidates who
have:
a) passed the general matura examination;
b) passed the vocational matura in one of the four-year secondary-school programmes that is classified
in:
- KLASIUS-P-16 classification: broad area 01; or
- FORD classification: area 5; or
- ARRS classification: area 5; or
- CERIF classification: area S;
and also passed a final examination in one of the general matura subjects: Psychology, Sociology,
Philosophy, History; the selected subject cannot be the same as one of the subjects passed in the
framework of the vocational matura;
c) successfully completed any four-year secondary-school programme before 1 June 1995.

IN CASE OF ENROLMENT LIMITATION


the candidates under a) and c) are selected according to:
- overall performance in the general matura or final exam respectively: 70 % of points awarded;
- overall performance in secondary grades 3 and 4: 30 % of points awarded.
the candidates under b) above are selected according to:
- overall performance in the vocational matura: 40 % of points awarded;
- overall performance in secondary grades 3 and 4: 30 % of points awarded,
- the performance in the selected general matura subject: 30 % of points awarded.

ENROLMENT IN A HIGHER YEAR OF STUDY (ACCORDING TO THE TRANSFER CRITERIA AMONG STUDY
PROGRAMMES AND CONDITIONS FOR ACCELERATED ADVANCEMENT)
Transferring between study programmes is possible according to the Higher Education Act, Criteria for
transferring between study programmes and other regulations of this field.
Transfer between study programmes is the enrolment in the higher year of the study programme, in
case of leaving the studies in the first (initial) study programme and continuation of studies in another
study programme of the same degree. The transition takes into account the comparability of the study
programmes and the completed study obligations of the candidate in the initial study programme. The
transition between study programmes is also enrolment of the graduate in the higher year study
programme of the same degree.
Transfer is possible between study programmes:
1. which on completion of studies ensure the acquisition of comparable competencies, and
2. between which it is possible, under the recognition criteria, to recognise at least half of study
requirements under the ECTS system from the first study programme relating to compulsory subjects
of the second study programme.
Transferring between study programmes is granted to candidates, provided that the following
conditions have been met:
- the candidate fulfils the requirements for admission to the study programme,

- the senate of the faculty or the competent faculty commission estimates that the candidate can be
recognized for at least half of the ECTS credit points obligations from the previous study
programme, which relate to the compulsory subjects of the study programme to which the
candidate is transferring;
- the completion of the initial study programme which the candidate is transferring from ensures
the acquisition of comparable competencies as those envisaged by the study programme.

TYPE OF STUDY PROGRAMME: ACADEMIC

DURATION: 3 YEARS / 180 ECTS

MODE OF STUDY: full-time, part-time

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Admission to the first year of study programme Visual Arts and Design shall be granted to the candidates
who have:
a) passed the general matura examination;
b) passed the vocational matura in one of the four-year secondary-school programmes that is
classified in:
- KLASIUS-P-16 classification: broad area 02; or
- FORD classification: area 6; or
- ARRS classification: area 6; or
- CERIF classification: area H;
and also passed a final examination in one of the general matura subjects: History of Art, Theory of
Art, Contemporary Dance, Music, History, Philosophy, Psychology, Sociology, Computing; the
selected subject cannot be the same as one of the subjects passed in the framework of the
vocational matura;
c) successfully completed any four-year secondary-school programme before 1 June 1995.

Prior to enrolment test of giftedness is mandatory.

TEST OF GIFTEDNESS

Instructions for taking the test will be sent few days before the test to the registered candidates at their
e-mail addresses listed in the application. All information on the test is published on the website of the
faculty https://www.pef.upr.si.

The cost of the test is charged according to the valid price list of UP PEF.

In the first application period the test of giftedness will be held on 27 June and 28 June 2023. If there
are still available places after the selection procedure, the test in the second application period will be
held on 5 and 6 September 2023.

If a candidate who has passed the test and was not accepted in the first application period, re-applies
for available places for enrolment in the second application period, he/she may repeat the test in order
to improve the test results. In the selection procedure the better assessment is taken into account.

Successfully passed test of giftedness is valid for five years.

IN CASE OF ENROLMENT LIMITATION

- overall performance in the general matura or final exam respectively: 5 % points awarded,
- overall performance in secondary grades 3 and 4: 5% points awarded;

- overall performance in the vocational matura: 4 % points awarded,
- overall performance in secondary grades 3 and 4: 3 % points awarded,
- the performance in the selected general matura subject: 3 % points awarded.
