you consider a hero in order to be prepared for the Oral Task.

need to know about your hero.

What is a profile?

A personal profile is a particular description of a person. There are different types of

personal profiles (professional profile, job profile, social network profile, among others).

The example below describes personal information (hometown, birthday, occupation),

personality traits, and it also narrates some significant contributions this person has
made to society.

It is also important to notice some linguistic choices that can be useful when writing this
kind of text:

Evans Wadongo’s Profile

Evans Wadongo is an engineer and social entrepreneur from Kenya. He was born in
rural western Kenya. Both of his parents are teachers. He had to walk more than 10
kilometers to get to school each day. There was no electricity in his school or home. In
2009, he graduated from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. He
earned his degree in Electronics and Computer Engineering. Since he was a child he was
curious and creative showing interest in learning new things. He was a little shy and quiet.
Although he was talkative and cheerful with his close friends.

In 2004, Wadongo started a project called “Use Solar, Save Lives.” He designed a
solar lamp to improve the quality of life in rural Kenya. The lamp is called ‘Mwongabora,
which means “good light” in swahili. The lamp is made from recycled materials.
Wadongo was only 19 when he designed it.

Since then, Wadongo has founded Sustainable Development For All-Kenya and
co- founded GreenWize Energy. Sustainable Development for All Kenya is a non-profit
which combats poverty in rural Kenya. GreenWize Energy is a for-profit social enterprise
that strives to design sustainable energy solutions.

Evans Wadongo is intelligent, innovative, and passionate about improving life
in communities like the village where he grew up. He has won many awards for his
work, which has received global attention. He currently lives in Nairobi, Kenya.
