13. Discuss lateral magnification.
14. Draw the experimental arrangement of Fresnel’s two mirror arrangement.
15. Newton’s rings are observed in reflected light of wavelength 5.9 x 10 -7 m. The diameter
of the 10th dark ring is 0.5 cm. Find the radius of curvature of the lens and the thickness
of air film at the position of the 10th dark ring.
16. Discuss the production and detection of circularly polarized light.
17. Explain diffraction by circular aperture.
18. Discuss applications of holography.
19. Derive the expression for acceptance angle of an optical fibre. In an optical fibre,
the core has a refractive index of 1.6 and the cladding has a refractive index of 1.3.
Find the values of critical angle and acceptance angle for the fibre.
