25. The sun’s mass is 2 x 10 kg and its radius is 7 x 10 m. Calculate the approximate
gravitational red shift in light of wavelength 400 nm emitted by the sun.
26. A hydrogen atom is 5.3 x 10 -11 m in radius. Estimate the minimum energy an electron can
have in this atom by uncertainty principle.
27. Show that the Bohr atom model is in conformity with the correspondence principle.
28. Find the longest wavelength present in the Balmer series of hydrogen atom.
29. A particle limited to the x-axis has the wave function ψ = ax between x = 0 and x = 1;
ψ = 0 elsewhere.
(a) Find the probability that the particle can be found between x = 0.45 and x = 0.55
(b) Find the expectation value of position, < x >, of the particle.

32. Explain Compton effect and discuss in detail how does it support the quantum theory of
radiation.
33. Discuss group velocity and phase velocity in the case of matter waves. Prove that the
de Broglie wave group associated with a moving body travels with the same velocity as
the body.
34. Discuss the particle in a box problem. Express the energy eigen functions in terms of
momentum eigen functions. Also find the momentum eigen values.
35. Discuss the hydrogen atom problem. Also specify the role of various quantum numbers.
