3 SW INSTALLATION
The system software for the BV Endura & BV Pulsera system has to be downloaded from CD-Rom to the
system in case of a software update, a new release or reinstallation.

NOTE
In case of a software upgrade, e.g. coming from release 2.1.6, a backup must be made of the examination
settings database, for having the possibility to import your old settings with this new release or to go back to
the old situation. See 3.1.

The software can be downloaded in two ways:

• With an Ethernet connection (with a network cross cable). This takes about 2 minutes.
• With a dial-up connection (with a serial cable). This takes about 25 minutes.

The two ways are described below. For a drawing of the connections, see 0-Level documentation part3 R2.2
4522 981 32303.

NOTE
On a BV Endura & BV Pulsera system the system software has already been installed in the factory; for
installation of a new DFI skip steps 3, 4 and 5.

1. Connect a cable between the service PC and the BV Family System: a cross cable to the Service
Ethernet port of the BV Family System or a serial cable to the RS232 Service port of the DFI.
2. Turn on the MVS and wait until the system is operational.
3. In the Setup panel of the MVS: select enable service.
4. In BV-Scope select Install > Program Manual > Network Configuration.
5. Enable the Extended Service Access.
6. Put the CD 4522 210 46214 into the CD-ROM drive of the service PC that has been connected to
the system.
7. Start the SWDownload.exe application on the CD-ROM. The window below appears.

8. In case of connection with a cross cable: select Ethernet Connection. In case of connection with a
serial cable: select Dial-up Connection.
9. Enter the Service IP address shown on the Setup panel of the MVS. (In case of a new DFI enter the
default IP address: 192.168.1.61).
10. Click the Download Software button. The software will be downloaded to the DFI and the result will
be displayed in the output window.
11. After about two minutes (in case of an Ethernet connection), the message ‘Download completed
successfully’ appears: close the window and switch the BV Endura & BV Pulsera off and on.
12. Close all windows.
13. In case of a software upgrade from release 2.1.6, the flash prom will be programmed on the DFI;
follow the instructions on the LIVE monitor.
14. The DFI will download the software to the Midas board in the C-stand if the software version is
newer. It will display the download progress on the User Interface of the C-stand. In addition, the
SHA1 LEDs will flash. The MVS will display being in “stand-alone” mode.
15. Wait until download will be finished (progress is 100% will be visible on the User Interface on the C-
stand). The stand will reboot automatically.
