on indigenous research.

Referencing and plagiarism


 Refer to your sources of information both in-text and in the list of references using the
Harvard method (see Tutorial Letter SCHJALL/301/4/2023 regarding the use of the
correct referencing techniques).
 Plagiarism occurs when you take or use another person’s thoughts or work as
your own. That is, copying the work word-for-word from the study material (and
without properly referencing the information). Rewrite the information in your
own words as much as possible.
 You will be penalised by copy and paste from study material

 Consult at least 3 additional sources excluding the study guide
 No dictionary definitions. Look for relevant criminological sources

 Visit the Unisa library or the library website for additional sources (also consult
the list of recommended books.
 You may also search the internet for credible sources of information such as news
reports and articles.
 Wikipedia will not be recognised as a credible scientific source.
