Untenable
 Untenable (v.) - If a theory or argument is untenable, it cannot be
supported or defended against criticism. असमर्थनीय

 impossible to continue because of serious problems, opposition,


or criticism
• She left, saying her job had become untenable.

Hint - A child un(der) ten not able to defense himself he needs


parents’ maintenance (under+ten+not able)
Gainsay
 Gainsay (v.) - deny or contradict (a fact or statement).
ईन्कार करना , चुनौती दे ना

• The impact of the railways cannot be gainsaid.

Hint - she has (Gain)ed weight but is not (say)ing it which means, she is
denying the fact.
Accentuate
 Accentuate (v.) - to emphasize something, or to make it more
noticeable जोर दना, अधिक सुस्पष्ट करना

• Her dress was tightly belted, accentuating the slimness of her waist.
• The bright lights tend to accentuate wrinkles.

Hint - Accent + up : i.e, to say with a strong accent, put emphasis on


something.
Resounding
 Resounding (adj.) - loud: गूंजना
• Supporters gave the team three resounding cheers.

• The plan was a resounding success/failure.
Crusader
 Crusader (n.) - a person who campaigns vigorously for political,
social, or religious change; a campaigner.

Cherubic
 Cherubic (adj.) - having a round, attractive face like that of a child:
परी के जैसा, सुन्दर और मनमोहक

• I was born cherubic and chubby.

Hint - Cherubic -> chehra(face) + ruby; ruby is cute looking, so


RUBY'S CHEHRA is CHERUBIC.
Pedestrian
 Pedestrian (n.) - a person walking rather than travelling in a
vehicle.

• The road is so dangerous pedestrians avoid it.

(adj.) - lacking inspiration or excitement; dull. नीरस


• His speech was long and pedestrian.
Heave
 Heave (v.) - lift or haul (something heavy) with great effort.
भारी वस्तु को

• She heaved the sofa back into place

produce (a sigh) आह भरना


• He heaved a euphoric sigh of relief
Salutary
 Salutary (adj.) - A salutary experience is good for you, even
though it may seem difficult or unpleasant at first. लाभदायक

• A salutary experience
• It was a salutary experience to be in the minority.
• It was a salutary lesson to see the whole team so easily
defeated.

Hint - Relate to SALUTE..so you salute a person who even after


many failures never gives up and always has THAT TENDENCY TO
IMPROVE.
Purge
 Purge (v.)/(n.) - to get rid of people from an organization because you do not
agree with them:

• Party leaders have undertaken to purge the party of extremists.


• He recently purged the armed forces, sending hundreds of officers into
retirement.

Rid (someone or something) of an unwanted quality, condition, or feeling


• He closed his eyes and lay still, trying to purge his mind of anxiety.
• The only way to purge the economy of this new burst of inflation is a short, sharp
recession.

Hint - its the opposite of 'merge', merge means to mix something into another and
purge means get rid of something.
Entail
Entail (v.) - If one thing entails another, it involves it or causes it.
आवश्यक बना दे ना

• These cuts will entail some job losses.


• Such a large investment inevitably entails some risk.
• Repairing the roof will entail spending a lot of money.

Hint - "tail" is a necessary thing for all animal...so necessary


Tumble
Tumble (v.) - to fall quickly and without control:
धगरना, बार बार लुढकना

• Unemployment tumbled to 5.6% in November.


• At any moment the whole building could tumble down.

Hint - Tumble sounds like fumble, when u make a fumble u fall


down.
Oversight
Oversight (n.) - a mistake made because of a failure to notice
something: चक

• They claimed it was simply (an) oversight.

If someone has oversight of a process or system, they are


responsible for making sure that it works efficiently and correctly.

• I had the oversight of their collection of books and manuscripts.

Dodgy
Dodgy (adj.) - Dishonest and unreliable मक्कार, चकमेबाज़, पैंतरे बाज़

• A dodgy deal
• They got involved with a dodgy businessman and lost all their
savings.

likely to fail or cause problems:

• I can't come in to work today - I've got a bit of a dodgy stomach.


• It was a dodgy situation.
Scramble
Scramble (v.) - to move or climb quickly but with difficulty, often
using your hands to help you: हार्-पैर के सहारे से चढ़ना

• Scramble over/up/down/out of etc:


• She managed to scramble over the wall.
Throes
Throes (n.) - If someone is experiencing something very unpleasant
or emotionally painful, you can say that they are in the throes of it,
especially when it is in its final stages. अत्यन्त पीड़ा या कष्ट

• The last throes of my career

Hint - This word sounds like “throws”...so if a person in voilent


anguish. He throws up everything whatever comes in front of him..
