Plate load-test PLT ad-on unit (patented by DEME Group)

 Regular Plate Load Tests (PLT) are field tests for

determining the ultimate bearing capacity of soil and
the likely settlement under a given load.
 Underwater Seafloor-PLT tests can be carried out to
confirm the density (bearing capacity) at the top of the
backfill of excavated (dredged) trenches.
 The S-PLT constitutes applying a given load on a 0.2 m²
circular steel plate placed on the seabed and recording
the settlements corresponding to each load increment
using the dead weight of a 28 tons submersed MANTA
positioned on the test location selected.
 A maximum load of 200 kN can be mobilized on the
plate, whereas a displacement of 1000 mm can be
recorded with an accuracy of < 0.5 mm.
