GEOTHERMAL ENERGY

• Thermal energy inside the earth.

• The energy of steam beneath the earth’s surface with high
pressure.
• Heat from the earth’s interior is a source of energy.

How is Geothermal energy generated?

• Geothermal Power Plants - the heat from deep inside the
Earth is used to produce steam to generate electricity. (Near
volcanoes, plains, hot spring areas)

• Geothermal Heat Pumps - use the heat coming from close to

the Earth's surface to heat water or provide heat for
buildings that save 72% of heating and cooling cost.

01 - Production well
02 - Water to steam.
03 - Spins turbine to generator
04 - Condenses back to water.
05 - Pump down in injection well.

01 - Energy in the ground.

02 - Cold out of house
03 - Absorbs heat
04 - Hot in the house
05 - Pump distributes

• LATITUDE
- The closer the place is to the equator, the warmer the climate is', the
farther the place is from the equator, the colder the climate is.

• ALTITUDE
- The air temperature decreases as the altitude increases. Places with
higher elevations have colder climates.

• BODIES OF WATER
- Large bodies of water such as oceans, seas, and large lakes affect the
climate of an area. Water heats and cools more slowly than land.

• TOPOGRAPHY
- mountain is an example of a topographical feature of the land. It
influences wind patterns and weather patterns.

• OCEAN CURRENT
- They affect the temperature of the nearby landmass. Warm climates
that move from the equator toward the pole carry warm water. On the
other hand, cold currents that travel from the poles toward the equator
carry cold water·
CLIMATE - is the general pattern of weather in a certain area over a long
period of time.
WEATHER - is the condition of the atmosphere at a specific place and time.

All these 5 factors Climate may affect the climate of an area. may differ
from one place to another depending on latitude, altitude, bodies of
water, topography, and ocean. currents.
