SITUATION:

The study will be conducted among the Grade One pupils of Kimaya
Elementary School on what is the Effect of the use of Big book in all subject areas and
learning competencies, in their level of reading comprehension skills and its implication
to quality education.

INTERVENTION:

Big book as an aid plays a very important role in teaching-learning


process. It is so much a part of everyday teaching that one can hardly imagine a life
without it especially during story reading.

It is also a response to many requests made by the teachers who would like to help
slow learners and disabled readers find the golden key to the world of enlightenment
and enjoyment.

Teacher should teach the pupils how to be critical readers. The


teacher, therefore, should guide the pupils in their reading and motivate them to learn
about life through printed words. Thus, the researcher motivated to study the reading
comprehension skills of grade one pupils.

SUMMARY:

This study is expected to help pupils read and comprehend the story
read, inability of pupils to understand the words in the story, negative attitudes of pupils
towards reading, motivation of pupils ineffective and inadequate questioning skills.

This study emphasizes the significant role of Big book in teaching-learning condition of
the class. The information will influence on the reading development and interest among
the pupils and will lead them on where emphasis on teaching may be given.
