SOME CHILDREN SPEND HOURS EVERYDAY ON THEIR SMARTPHONES

By Tilka Hasrul

A smartphone is one of the easily accessible gadgets nowadays for all ages, including children.
It leads to not only positive impacts but also the majority of negative ones. In this essay, I will
outline what I consider to be the disadvantages of being extremely active with smartphones for
children, including the mental and physical effects.

Firstly, children’s mentality is the prominent target of the loss of smartphone use. It will
stimulate the brain to be more inactive than when the pupils spend their time conducting
physical activities such as writing, playing, exercising, or actively reading books. It also would
lead the kids to be lazy in thinking and decreasing problem-solving skills. Not only the brain
but physiology is also affected. Being connected all the time with a gadget will not encourage
the function of the body and work appropriately so that no wonder when we find numerous
teenagers with obesity.

Secondly, physical impact is a case that could not be avoided. Eye disorder is one of the clear
facts that we almost recognize nowadays, that happened at a very early age. Enormous
teenagers are wearing glasses merely to help them to see or study at school. And it will not
cure at the same time, while it gains worse with the additional number of glasses minus. It will
lower the productivity of children as a young generation who should be healthy, active, and
smart.

To sum up, spending time 24/7 with smartphones is not encouraged for children as the future
hope for every parent. It should be controlled before it affects the mentality and physical
conditions of our lovely ones.
