1. Pursuant to Section 2 of Republic Act (RA) No. 7079 and in our commitment to
continuously uphold and promote the development and growth of campus journalism in
the campus level, this office announces the conduct of the SY 2023-2024 Mataasnakahoy
Sub-Office Virtual Journalism Academy on October 10-13, 16-18, 2023 at 2 PM
onwards via Google Meet.
2. The activity aims to:
a. demonstrate understanding of journalism through skillful execution in various platforms
(i.e., print, broadcast, online);
b. recognize the role of journalism in advocating for social consciousness and
environmental awareness;
c. promote fair and ethical use of media as tenets of responsible journalism;
d. foster camaraderie and enrich learning experiences through healthy and friendly
competitions;
e. provide learners opportunities to use the skills learned on campus journalism for their
future careers;
f. provide venue for an enriching learning experience for students and coaches to give them
a better edge in various journalistic competitions;
g. enhance journalistic competence of the winning coaches and journalists who will
compete for the 2023-2024 Division Schools Press Conference which will be held on
October 21; and
h. intensify Campus Journalism activities in the sub-office.

3. The participants of this academy are the coaches and journalists who won as First and
Second placers in the recently concluded Mataasnakahoy Sub-Office Schools Press
Conference. All school paper advisers and coaches of all schools in the sub-office are
also encouraged to join in this activity. They can choose the event they prefer to
participate. Google meet link is provided in this memorandum, to wit:

4. Participants’ incidental expenses relative to this activity shall be charged against local
funds/Journalism Funds/School MOOE subject to usual accounting and auditing
procedure.
5. Refer to the enclosure for the technical working group on the conduct of the SY 2023-
2024 Journalism Academy.
6. For the successful conduct of the activity, there will be a virtual meeting of the members
of the TWG on October 9, 2023, at 1:00 o’clock in the afternoon through this
link:meet.google.com/bpg-hjoi-yfc.
7. Immediate and wide dissemination of this memorandum is desired.
