RE: Learn to Swim

Dear Parents/Guardians,

As a component of the Year 7 PDHPE program, students will be participating in a

practical unit on swimming. This is a mandatory unit as specified by the NSW
Education Standards Authority. Throughout this unit, students will learn the skills
required for swim survival and stroke development.

This unit will take place during your child’s regular PE lesson time (2 periods) from
weeks 5- 9 for 7BB and 7BC at Macquarie Fields Leisure Centre and weeks 6 - 9 for
7BA at Michael Wenden Aquatic Centre. The cost for this activity has been
included in the 2022 school fees allocation so there is no extra charge required.

Students are required to bring:

- Swimwear (boardshorts and rash shirt)
- Towel
- Spare underwear
- Goggles (optional)
- Plastic bag for wet swimwear and towel afterwards.

No loose clothing can be worn in the pool as this is a drowning hazard.

Appropriate swimwear is required.

Permission has initially been given in the 2022 Sports permission note. If you have
any further concerns, please contact the school at your earliest convenience.
