Yes/No Types of Curriculum Justification (Example) Design in K-12 No Subject-Centered Design The K-12 curriculum has not enhanced to be ‘subject-centered’ curriculum. This is quite challenging since if this is to be applied, it will only be applicable to Yes Learner-Centered Design As curriculum changes through time, the K-12 curriculum implemented its development of natural love of learning and not feel that it’s something to be exposed. Thus, it recognizes to be ‘learner-centered’ curriculum in all grade levels that students are not all the same and takes each individual’s needs, interests, and goals into consideration throughout the design process. This practice and conduct has the better way of approach for the learning process and students are encouraged to be active in participation. At the same time, students have the opportunity to give effort figuring problem-solving skills and the space of having craftsmanship without being spoon fed. A good example would be group activities for students to collaborate and learn from each other while still being guided by the teacher.
Yes Problem-Centered Design The K-12 curriculum has
made it possible in ‘problem-centered’ design as well. It is evident that the curriculum incorporates life- situations, current issues, and social issues that are relevant to the learning process and how students look into the problem while at the same time provide possible solutions for it.
