Based on the data gathered from the Chief Security Officer, security officers, students, and

academic/non-academic staff of the university, several recommendations can be made to

improve the security system

1. Enhance Security Personnel: Increase the number of security officers, both in-house and
private, to ensure adequate coverage of the university premises. This would help in
implementing security protocols effectively and improve response time during emergencies.

2. Utilize Modern Technology: Upgrade the security system with advanced technologies such as
scanners, bar code readers, and other detection devices to enhance bag and people screening
processes. Emphasize the use of CCTV cameras to monitor key areas and deter potential security
threats.

3. Implement Access Control Measures: Strengthen access control measures at the university
gates and other restricted areas. Implement identity card checks and use of security guards to
ensure that only authorized individuals can enter specific zones within the university premises.

4. Increase Collaboration with Main Security Sectors: Maintain and strengthen the existing
collaboration with main security sectors of the country, such as the police, intelligence services,
and military. This cooperation can provide additional support during emergency situations and
improve overall security on campus.

5. Raise Awareness and Training: Conduct regular awareness programs and training sessions for
students, academic staff, non-academic staff, and security officers. These programs should focus
on recognizing potential security risks, reporting suspicious activities, and promoting a culture of
security consciousness throughout the university community.

6. Improve Lighting and Emergency Communication: Enhance lighting infrastructure on

campus, particularly in isolated or poorly lit areas, to improve personal safety. Install emergency
phones or communication devices in strategic locations to enable quick reporting of security
incidents or emergencies.

7. Strengthen Cybersecurity Measures: Develop robust cybersecurity protocols and educate

students and staff about the risks of cyber threats. Implement measures such as two-factor
authentication, regular data backups, and awareness campaigns to prevent phishing attempts and
protect sensitive information.
8. Address Accommodation Security: Improve security measures in student hostels and
accommodation facilities. This includes implementing access control, surveillance systems, and
ensuring adequate security personnel presence to minimize theft, vandalism, and other security
concerns.

9. Establish Reporting Mechanisms: Create an efficient and confidential reporting mechanism for
security incidents, including theft, assault, sexual harassment, or any other safety concerns.
Encourage students, staff, and faculty to report such incidents promptly for appropriate action.

10. Foster a Culture of Safety: Promote a sense of collective responsibility among all
stakeholders, including students, academic and non-academic staff, and security officers.
Encourage active participation and cooperation in maintaining a safe and secure environment on
campus.

Implementing these recommendations would help enhance the overall security system of the
university, create a safer environment for students and staff, and mitigate various security risks
identified in the research. Continuous evaluation and improvement of security protocols should
be prioritized to adapt to evolving threats and maintain a secure campus community.
