Report on Israeli Attack on Hamas

On October 7, 2023, Israel launched a series of airstrikes on the Gaza Strip in response
to rocket attacks from Hamas. The airstrikes targeted Hamas military targets, as well as
civilian infrastructure.

The Israeli government said the airstrikes were necessary to protect its citizens from
Hamas rocket attacks. Hamas said the airstrikes were a war crime and vowed to
retaliate.

The airstrikes have killed at least 160 Palestinians and wounded over 1,000. At least 40
Israelis have been killed in the rocket attacks from Gaza.

The United Nations has called for an immediate ceasefire and warned of a humanitarian
crisis in the Gaza Strip. The United States has also called for a ceasefire and urged
both sides to show restraint.

International Reaction

The international community has condemned the Israeli airstrikes, with many calling for
a ceasefire.

 The United Nations Secretary-General, António Guterres, said he was "deeply

concerned" about the escalation of violence and called for an immediate ceasefire.
 The United States Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, said he was "deeply troubled" by
the violence and urged both sides to show restraint.
 The European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep
Borrell, said he was "gravely concerned" about the situation and called for an immediate
ceasefire.
 The United Kingdom Foreign Secretary, Liz Truss, said she was "deeply concerned"
about the violence and urged both sides to "step back from the brink."

Conclusion

The situation in the Gaza Strip is complex and there is no easy solution. However, it is
important to remember that all sides have a responsibility to protect civilians and to
avoid further bloodshed.

The international community should continue to pressure both sides to agree to a

ceasefire and to engage in meaningful dialogue to resolve the underlying issues of the
conflict.
