LESSON PLAN IN ENGLISH 7

SUBJECT INTEGRATION: ARALING PANLIPUNAN-CONTEMPORARY ISSUES


CONTENT STANDARD
The learner demonstrates understanding of: Philippine literature in the Period of Emergence as a
tool to assert one’s identity; strategies in listening to and viewing of informative and short
narrative texts; word relationships and associations; informative speech forms; and use of
direct/reported speech, passive/ active voice, simple past and past perfect tenses, and sentence
connectors.
PERFORMANCE STANDARD
The learner transfers learning by: showing ways of asserting one’s identity; comprehending
informative and short narrative texts using schema and appropriate listening and viewing
strategies; expressing ideas, opinions, and feelings through various formats; and enriching written
and spoken communication using direct/reported speech, active/passive voice, simple past and
past perfect tenses and connectors correctly and appropriately.

a. Define what is assertion.
b. Write a reaction based on the authors’ assertion.
c. Cite the importance of giving correct reaction.

A. AWARENESS
Activity 1: 1-2-3 PICTURE!
The given statements are assertions. React to each assertion by expressing your emotion through
your facial expression.
1. COVID-19 cases increase every day.
2. Ms. Philippines Rabiya Mateo enters top 21 of Miss Universe 2020.
3. Palestinian militants fired more rockets into Israel’s commercial heartland.
4. Chinese vessels swarming the West Philippine Sea.

Activity 2: Say What You See
The students will write their reaction based on the picture considering the given situations.
1. In public places we must practice social distancing.
2. There should be a limit to the number of passengers in the public transportation.
3. Sanitize your hands always.
4. School guard must check teachers’ temperature at the entrance.

D. ABSTRACTION
Assertion is used to let the readers feel that they should agree what they read or hear.
Reaction is an action taken in response to something.
D. APPLICATION
Activity 3: Carousel Brainstorming!
Group them into three groups:
Each group will be given an issue in where they will make an assertion and the other groups will
make the reaction.
Group 1: COVID-19
Group 2: Miss Universe 2020
Group 3: West Philippine Sea
IV. EVALUATION
Direction: Read the given assertion then give your reaction.
1. There should be a limit to the number of passengers in the school bus.
2. School guard must check students’ temperature at the entrance.
3. Wear face mask in face-to-face class.
4. A limit to the number of attendees in a school meeting should be imposed.
5. In a school library, one should observe social distancing.
