“What” Cleft Sentences

STRUCTURE: WHAT + clause + BE + emphasized word or phrase
In a Wh- cleft sentence, the emphasis is on the action.

NORMAL SENTENCE: Jake dived into the sea from the clifftop.
CLEFT SENTENCE: What Jake did was dive into the sea from the clifftop.

Rewrite each sentence as a Wh- cleft sentence, placing the emphasis on the action.
