The primary connection between the map and the theme. This is when Uncle

Axel talks about the land with strong and tall women. He does not even mention a

name. The society they live in is so concerned and focused on deviation. Most people

don’t care about what's on the inside and only about the outside and looking at the

norm. Their community is surrounded by judgment and discrimination. Waknuk is way

too concerned with being a perfect society and being like the old people. They need to

have this ideal society so they exile people to Fringes to dead. Plus people in Waknuk

must realize that the Fringes is nowhere for people to live. Cause the Fringes People to

need to raid Waknuk because they can not grow anything in Fringes. They

destroy/burn livestock and plants just because they look different. Everyone is so

sheltered in Waknuk that they don’t explore their world really cause they are too scared,

so they are not exposed to any other cultures/religions except their own. They make

assumptions about what will happen if they explore the world so they do not. The main

theme for this book is probably, It does not matter whats on the outside it's what is on

the inside. As cheesy as that sounds it's true. Also, exposing yourself to new things will

make you a better person.
