Learning Journal Unit 1

People have different goals and desires that they would want to achieve in their life. Goals, whether
personal or professional, long term or short term set the path for where we are and where we would
want to be in life and a goal without a plan is just a dream. Having a comprehensive goal plan can really
help us to achieve it successfully. As we have studied this week about SMART goal setting plan stands for
Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Time-Bound, I could say that this is one of the best plan,
technique and method that could help us to know more about the goal we have set and implement it
with the best manner. I would like to mention one of my goals as an example and address each part of
the SMART technique.

Specific

I plan to graduate with a Computer Science degree in the next 4 years. I am currently enrolled as a
student at the University of the People pursuing a bachelor degree in computer science.

Measurable

I will ensure I complete my course units successfully and bypassing my exams with a minimum target of
3.0 GPA at the end of every term.

Attainable

I’m planning to achieve this by creating enough time to study, which is a minimum of 15 hours every
week. This will ensure I can complete my assignments on time, hence ensuring I have good grades.

Relevant

All the courses I select to study in the university are my favorite ones and they are directly or indirectly
related to my academic achievements. I’m actualizing this by already being enrolled in courses of my
desired degree program as this will set the foundation for my degree.

Time-Bound

I have a target to complete a minimum of two courses per term for my bachelor degree but I will push it
further to 3 so that I can complete my computer science degree hopefully by the end of 2025. The
academic calendar of the university helps me to better see the flow and progress of my degree program
and manage my time and deadlines.
