2.1.1 Relative and Absolute Cell References

Relative refecences: Excel spreadsheet are set by default as relative references.

When formula is copied across multiple cells, the formula changes
according to the relative position of rows and column.

Absolute references: does not change when one copies or fills a formula across multiple cells

2.2 Basic Excel Functions ("SUM", "AVERAGE", "MIN", "MAX", "COUNT", "COUNTIF", "COUNTIFS")
Function is a predefined formula that is used to perform calculations using values indicated in a perticular order.

SUM: Finds the sum of values in a range of cells =sum(data range)

Total Order Amount
Average / Mean: Finds the average of the values in a range of cells =average(data range)
Average Quantity Ordered
Average Order Amount

Minimum (MIN): Finds the minimum value in a range of cells =min(data range)
Minimum Quantity Ordered

Maximum (MAX): Finds the maximum value in a range of cells =max(data range)
Maximum Quantity Ordered

Maximum Delivery Time

Count: Count cells that match criteria =count(data range)

2.3 Insert Function: to place / insert a specific function by using the function button "fx" on the Formula Bar diolog box

2.4 Logical Function "IF", "IF(AND)",

"IF": A logical function that tests whether a specific condition is met or not.

Number of orders with order amount less than RM15000

Situation (Range K90:K196)

Using the "IF" function, determine whether any of the orders are entitle to receive 5%
discount. (YES if Order Amount => RM25000; NO if Order Amount < RM25000)

"IFS": A logical function that tests multiple conditions

Total Quantity Ordered for "Decoder IC" by "VORC Coporation"
Total Quantity Ordered for "Mini Micro Controller" by "SKS Enterprise"

IF(AND): A logical function that tests multiple conditions with "AND"

Using the "IF AND" function, "mark" or "flag" records as "HIGH" if the "Discount 5%" is
"YES" and the "Order Amount" is more than RM35000.

2.5 Lookup Function "VLOOKUP", "HLOOKUP", "INDEX", "MATCH" … P.9

VLOOOKUP: Looks up a value in a table by

matching on the first column and returns a value
in the same row from a column that you have
specified.
