Chairman chases UP member with machete

Video goes viral

A video clip of a ruling Awami League-backed union parishad chairman chasing a union
parishad member with a machete in Barishal has gone viral on social media.

The chairman, Mustafa Rari, and the UP member, Bachchu Dewan, have both filed
written complaints against each other. The police are investigating the incident.

In the video, chairman Rari can be seen chasing after UP member Dewan with the
machete. However, Dewan's followers intervened and caught Rari before he could hit
him.

Dewan said that the chairman threatened him over a matter and chased him with the
machete to kill him. Rari denied the allegation and claimed that Dewan and his cohorts
beat him.

The police are investigating the incident and will take legal action after probing the
allegations.
