Please be advised on the Research Content Format to be followed:

Cover Page – Title of the Study

Chapter 1 – The Problem

 Background and Rationale – generally covers the following:
problem to be identified and defined,
technical justification,
advantage of what is being proposed and
presents the value of the project (impact).

The aforementioned may be well presented using the following sequence:

 The 1st paragraph shall describe a concise overview of the study
articulating the technical description as captured in the title of the
study. Articulate also the general advantage of the study and its
significant contribution (what it can offer?) to the stakeholders.
 2nd paragraph contains a brief recent evolution of the technology of
interest – describes how the technology surfaced and the motivational
factors of its development.
 Cite only those relevant studies/authors with more than 5 current
citations
 Access the related studies on Google Scholar website only
 This may be included in the 2nd paragraph discussing on the significant
Impact of the technology – describes the significant impact of the
technology of interest (not specific to your study) in terms of economic,
academic, and social impact.
 Cite only those relevant studies/authors with more than 5 current
citations
 Access the related studies on Google Scholar website only
 The 3rd paragraph discusses the relevant challenges of the technology
involved – describes the various challenges posed by the development. It
must be noted that some trade-offs may be experienced in the utility of the
technology that needs to be explicitly explained in at least two (2) categories:
 Global scene
 National scene
 Local scene
 The 4rth paragraph discusses interventions and initiatives to mitigate
challenges – describes some prevailing interventions and initiatives imposed
by other scientists to alleviate current challenges based on technology
innovations and/or technology-based treatment. It may be presented in the
following sequence in at least two (2) categories:
 Global scene
 National scene
 Local scene

 This section may highlight some relevant studies conducted so as to

provide benchmark information on some mitigating
measures/approaches/strategies that arrest the
problems/challenges.
 Cite only those relevant studies/authors with more than 5 current
citations
 Access the related studies on Google Scholar website only

 Problem Statement – this section should recognize and acknowledge the

aforementioned arguments presented as challenges and interventions that can be
utilized as motivating factors for some potent solution based on technology
innovations and or other forms of technology-based treatment.

 Presentation of the proposed solution – presents that through the

“Design, development, implementation and evaluation of the proposed
project/study, it provides better solution and resolution to stakeholders. The
study therefore should seek to address some prevailing issues and or
questions with respect to the design, development, implementation and
evaluation of the proposed technology-based treatment.

 Research Objectives (Main & Specific Objectives) – follows Deductive

Reasoning
statement of an outcome of the study in terms of variables,
contains implications for empirical testing

e.g. The general objective of the study is to provide a mitigating measure to

instructional tool inadequacy in the academe through the development of
indigenous laboratory materials as pedagogic intervention. The specific
objectives are:
1. To design ……
2. To develop …..
3. To implement …..
4. To evaluate …..
 Scope and Limitation – describes the specific coverage of the study bearing the
enabling technologies involved, general methodology, and the project setting. Other
technologies may be mentioned and classified under the limitation of the study.

 Theoretical Framework or Conceptual Framework or Organization of the

Study – (input – process – output & outcome) framework/paradigm

 Definition of Terms

Chapter 2 – Review of Related Studies - may be presented by sections in the following

sequence:
 Brief recent evolution of the technology
 Significant Impact of the technology
 Challenges of the technology – may be in the following sequence:
 Global scene
 National scene
 Local scene
 Interventions and initiatives to mitigate challenges – may be in the
following sequence:
 Global scene
 National scene
 Local scene
Note: Cite only those relevant studies/authors with more than 5 current
citations. Access the related studies on Google Scholar only

Chapter 3 – Methodology

describes the overall plan and strategies for attaining the stated objectives
of the research. (i.e. How are you going to accomplish the specific
objectives described in your study)
represents the way the researchers conduct his observation or collects
information or performs the design/develop/implement, and evaluate
includes specifics such as the location of the study, sampling design,
specification of variables, data collection, and analysis of data.

Should describe how the following are undertaken:

 Design, [all designs of components and sub-components should be clearly
presented, and techniques described in this section including all relevant technical
drawings, sketches, schematics, circuits, diagrams, flow charts, truth tables, and
the like. Figures and tables should be properly marked accordingly.]
 Development, [the sequential processes of assembly and/or prototyping should
be explicitly described including a description of theoretical aspects utilized.]
 Implementation & [this section may describe how the project/prototype will be
technically tested and tried.]
 Evaluation [the evaluation parameters and another relevant testing instrument
should be thoroughly explained in this section. Statistical test methods and/or
technical performance measurement should also be emphasized.]

Chapter 4 – Results and Discussions

The results and discussions should be in conjunction with the stipulated
methodology. Designed drawings and accomplished designs must be well
presented, compared and discussed. Actual pictures of components and sub-
components should be well described.

Chapter 5 – Overall Summary, Conclusions, and Recommendations

The overall summary must bear the highlights of the research chapters. The
conclusions must be based on the significant results of the
test/assessment/evaluation conducted. The recommendations should address the
least significant results of the test/assessment/evaluation. The recommendations
may be presented in question form.
