Abstract: C-reactive protein (CRP) is a sensitive indicator of inflammation in the body, rising
up to 1000 fold quickly after inflammation. (CRP) along with other markers of inflammation
like: (ESR), are also sometimes referred to as acute phase reactants. Acute phase proteins are
defined as those proteins whose concentrations changes (increase or decrease) during
inflammation. Note: C-reactive protein level does not provide any specifics about the
inflammatory process going on in the body (such as the location of the inflammation).
1. INTRODUCTION:
The CRP-latex is a slide agglutination test for the qualitative and semi quantitative detection of
C-Reactive Protein (CRP) in human serum. Latex particles coated with goat IgG anti- human
CRP are agglutinated when mixed with samples containing CRP.

3. METHODS:
Qualitative Method:
1. Allow the reagents and samples to reach room temperature. The sensitivity of the test may be

test.
3. Mix the CRP-latex reagent vigorously or on a vortex mixer before using and add one drop (50 µL)
4. Mix the drops with a stirrer, spreading them over the entire surface of the circle. Use different
Note: False positive results could appear if the test is read later than two minutes.
1. Make serial two fold dilutions of the sample in 9 g/L saline solution.
