Field Experience D

While doing my observation in the classroom there were several things that were discussed

between myself and Ms. Smith we talked about several students that needed interventions while

working in math that could help them. The students that were chosen were students that were more

than one grade level behind in math, so the interventions that were decided upon was giving the

students modified lessons which made the lesson smaller for then students and gives them more time to

focus on one part of the work more. Once the intervention was implemented, we saw that some

students work did improve with the intervention but there was a few that did not, and for those

students we had to find a new alternative intervention that would better help them in the classroom,

and the intervention for those students are leaving the classroom with the math coach. Now judging

from how well the students are doing we will modify their intervention as needed. The interventions

that were put in place can easily be used by the parents at home to further help their students at home,

with the lessons being made smaller the students and their parents will be able to not only work on the

lesson but be able to master the work.

With everything that I have learned through this Clinical Field experience have really taught me

a lot about myself and has given me a lot of things that I will take into my profession. The one thing I will

have to learn is that there will be students that will need interventions and those interventions may not

be the same so I will have to become well versed in them. I also know that making sure that I am cool

calm and collected will help the students more than it will help me because they will learn to trust me

which goes a long way.
