What a Pumpkin Patch they had!

Great Gourds! The pumpkins that were passed out on October’s food bank distribution day put a smile on a

Good morning from Glentana, Montana!

Mel and Jacky Dyrland woke up to a nice little skiff
of snow this morning. But that’s nothing compared
to our neighbors to the south of us are about to be
blessed with. A Winter Storm Warning is in effect from
6 PM this evening to 6 PM Thursday for SW Phillips,
Petroleum, and Garfield counties. Widespread snow
totals of 4 inches or more are expected during this time
with some locations potentially seeing as much as 12
inches of snow south of the Missouri River. A Winter
Storm Watch remains in effect from 6 PM this evening
to 6 AM Friday for the remaining northeast Montana
counties with some snow. The snow is expected to
arrive in two rounds, the first being this evening into
Wednesday afternoon and the second round arriving
Thursday. Travel is expected to be hazardous due to
poor visibility and icy conditions. Take all necessary
precautions to prepare and alter travel plans if possible.

Glasgow School District
Work Session Notice
The Glasgow School District Board of Trustees will
have a work session on Tuesday, November 7th at 1:30
p.m. Discussion items include Review/Update of the
Strategic Plan. Strategic Plan Overview:
The Glasgow Public Schools has created a new
direction for the school district to strategically focus its
resources on identified wants, preferences, and needs of
its community. As part of this process, Glasgow Public
Schools has begun a strategic planning and thinking
process that will lead to a stronger and more vital school
district. This process will be ongoing as Glasgow Public
Schools moves into the future. This Strategic Plan is
intended to help Glasgow Public Schools in focusing its
resources in a manner that will best benefit the students
enrolled in Glasgow Public Schools.
The Glasgow Board of Trustees, together with input
from students, staff, parents and community members,
began the strategic planning and thinking process
necessary to fit with its commitment to students,
to community engagement, to moving the District
forward and to utilizing a knowledge-based decision
making process. As part of its preparation for planning
strategically, Glasgow Public Schools brought in staff
from the Montana School Boards Association with
expertise in strategic planning for public schools to
facilitate the group through the initial strategic planning
process.
The Glasgow Public Schools Board of Trustees
formally adopted its initial strategic plan in 2012 and it
has been used to drive the work of the Board of Trustees
and staff since that time. The Plan is regularly updated to
reflect changing circumstances and to continue moving
the District toward its envisioned future.
Glasgow Public Schools views the process of strategic
planning as an ongoing process within the school
system.
This is not a “strategic planning project” that is
completed. Adoption of a plan is an affirmation of the
general intent and direction articulated by the Core
Ideology, Envisioned Future and Goals and Strategic
Objectives. It is understood that progress toward
achieving identified strategic objectives will be assessed
at least annually, and the plan will be updated based on
achievement and changes in the needs of the students
served by Glasgow Public Schools.

Mentioned on today’s front page is Whitewater’s Class C Champion Shelbi LaBrie.
Here she is, passing up TJ Chirrick of Roberts, who would place fifth. We reached
out to Andrew McKean for a photo of Shelbi, and sure-fire-yes, he delivered. And a
shout-out to the Spartans of Scobey, as the girls tied the Rockets for first place but
lost the tie-breaker to place second. The Spartans were paced by Mya Green and
Mia Handran, who placed 2nd and 3rd behind LaBrie.

be served cold with thick slices of cheddar and white
bread (that’s how Mayor Jones likes it, “baloney” on
white bread with mustard!). It can be chopped up and
mixed with crumbled, hard boiled eggs, and mayo (a
recipe Helen Squires gave me, and if I can find it, maybe
she’ll let us use it: put it in hot dog buns, wrap them in
