B. Developmental Questions
Activities Do you have any idea what IP address is?
Ask the students what they would need to know if they wanted to send data
thru an IP Address
Ask the students if they have idea on how the IP Address works?
Stress that IP addresses are also important on the Internet.
Introduce IP Addressing
Binary
used in digital computers, based on binary number system.
There are two (2) Possible state, On (1) or Off (0).
There are four different types of IP addresses: public, private, static, and dynamic.
1. Public IP Address - is an IP Address assigned to your network.
2. Private IP address – is a unique IP Address that your network router assigned to
your device.
3. Static IP Address - one that is manually created and does not change
4. Dynamic IP Address - most common type of IP address, subject to change and has
been assigned by a (DHCP) server. It is only active for a certain period of time
V. APPLICATION After explaining the concepts, the students will try these activities:
Activity 1: The teacher will let the students find their partners. Each tandem will
supply the needed answer to complete the table. The first to complete the table and
posted on the board wins.
IP Address
100 . 89 . 76 . 25
Activity 2: TELL THE TRUTH! The students will be grouped into five (5) groups. The
teacher will give the students letters “T” and “F”.
Tell whether each statement is true or false by raising the letters “T” & “f”
1. Binary uniquely identifies the computer from all other computers on the
network.
2. IP Address is the method by which data is sent from one computer to another
on the network which consists of 8 bits.
3. Private IP is the most common type of IP address.
4. Static IP Address - one that is manually created and does not change
5. Public IP Address - is an IP Address assigned to your network.
