GROUND RULES 2023

I. QUALIFICATIONS

1. Must be a bonafide student (officially enrolled of the school year (2023-2024) of the Ateneo de
Zamboanga University – Senior High school.

2. Must be officially enrolled in a particular grade level to play for the grade level or groupings to
which he/she belongs.

3. Must be officially registered with the Committee on Sports and Secretariat Committee (Sports
Coordinator office)

4. Must play only in two sports events or one sport and one non-sport event. If a student is caught
playing in more than the allowed events, he/she shall be barred from playing further in all his/her
other events.

5. A handicapping rule shall be applied to VARSITY players. All VARSITY players on the official
school list are not allowed to participate in their respective events.

NOTE: The term “varsity” shall include all regular players currently undergoing official training in each
sports event under the Office of the Senior High School Athletics. To be a regular varsity member, an
athlete must be included in the Team A official roster submitted to the Office of the Senior High
School Athletics Office. He/She is qualified to represent the institution in any inter-school
competitions.

6. Players in the official line up are required to attend formation session before the schedule of the
Senior High School Intramurals 2023. Failure to attend the formation session will disqualify you from
participating in the sport and non-sport events.

7. Official list of players must have a certification from the infirmary that they are fit to participate on
the various sports event.

 Deadlines
Submission of Checklist of Events: October 7, 2023 (Saturday)

Submission of Official Team Line-up: October 14, 2023 (Saturday)

Note: Minor changes in the line-up are allowed provided that it will be done before the first game
of the respective event.

II. CASA LEVEL ORGANIZATION COLORS AND UNIFORMS

1. The colors for each group level shall be as follows:

2. Players are required to wear their Casa color uniform in all events. However, should a Casa
group prefer to have a separate jersey for a particular event, they may do so provided that the
jersey is of the same color as the Casa group color.

3. Numbers shall be printed at the back of each uniform or jersey in events such as basketball,
football, volleyball, sepaktakraw, softball and futsal.

4. A Casa group banner is mandatory during the Senior High School Intramurals. A banner raising
ceremony shall be part of the opening program.

III. TEAM COMPOSITION:

Basketball (B&G) - 18players (per team)

Football (Boys) - 21 players each entry (per team)

Futsal (Girls) - 15 players each entry (per team)

Volleyball (B&G) - 15 players each entry (per team)

Softball (B&G) - 15 players each entry (per team)

Frisbee Mixed - 8 players boys & 8 players girls (per team)

Individual/Dual Sport
Table tennis (B&G) - 5 players each entry (per team)

Badminton (B&G) - 5 players each entry (per team)

Chess (B&G) - 4 players each entry (per team)

Darts (B&G) - 4 players each entry (per team)

1. All winners (champion, 1st runner-up & 2 nd runner-up) - individual, dual and team sports/events
shall be awarded certificates.

2. For purposes of determining the general champion and the ranking of the competing Casa
group, the medal system shall be based on the modified tally as follows:

3. Certificates shall be awarded immediately after the end of each sport/event. However, the
general championship trophy shall be awarded during the closing program.

V. TOURNAMENT FORMAT: The Senior High School Intramurals 2023 shall adopt the Single Round
Robin format with two groups. The Group level representatives will draw lots to determine their
first competing group level or teams.

VI. DEFAULTING/FORFEITURE TIME: Default/Forfeiture is declared on a team if it cannot field a

starting line-up fifteen (10) minutes after the scheduled time and/or after the last call has been
announced. However, during championship games, schedules can be arranged and re-scheduled
subject to the approval of the Chairman of steering committee and provided that the re-scheduling
is incurred by both teams.

VII. PROTESTS AND COMPLAINTS: Only the Casa group Sports Coordinator or the Team Captain
may file protests or complaints before or when the game is on-going. However, protests shall be
limited to any violation of the general ground rule and not based on technicality. No protests
shall be entertained after the games.

VIII. UNSPORTSMAN-LIKE CONDUCT: Any player who shall be ejected from any game for
unsportsman-like behavior shall automatically serve a one-(1) game suspension. However, after
a thorough review, the suspension shall not prevent the Committee on Sports from giving a
stiffer penalty should the incident warrants.

IX. ALL OTHER RULES not specifically stated in this Ground Rules shall be referred to the rules of
the game as specified by each event.
