COURSE TITLE: XERO ACCOUNTING ADVANCED

PREREQUISITE: Access to Xero's demo company

COURSE OVERVIEW: This course covers advanced knowledge of Xero going beyond the
basics. Learners will be able to learn about Xero’ chart of accounts, conversion balances,
tracking categories and expense claims. In addition, you will become an expert at Xero’s
products and services (inventory), manual journals, fixed assets that will help learners advance
their career and have greater control of their Xero accounts.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
1. Take your Xero knowledge to the next level by going beyond the fundamentals.
2. Know about the chart of accounts in Xero, as well as conversion balances,
monitoring categories, and expenditure claims.
3. Learn about Xero's products and services (inventory, manual journals, and fixed
assets).
4. Advance your career and have more control over your accounts.

This course goes beyond basic bookkeeping and teaches you how to use Xero like an accountant.
You'll learn how to maintain a fixed assets register, publish manual journals, and create a detailed
chart of accounts.

Chapter 1. Complete initial setup tasks


1.1 Xero chart of accounts (adjust, edit, delete and import)
1.2 Import invoices and bills
1.3 Set the conversion balances
1.4 Fix common conversion balance problems

Chapter 2. Manage contacts in Xero


2.1 Set up contacts in Xero (importing contacts)
2.2 smart list and groups

Chapter 3. Use inventory for products and services


3.1 Import products and services (import inventory, enter opening balances
troubleshoot)
3.2 Update or remove products and services (edit inventory items, edit them in
bulk, delete inventory items)
3.3. Resolve common inventory problems (inventory items, opening balances,
fix negative inventory)
3.4 Make adjustments to your products and services (new adjustments, enter
adjustments)

ASSESSMENT:

Theoretical Exam: (2) 10 Multiple choice questions to be completed at the end of topic or
session.

ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS:

It is important for the instructor / trainer to be notified when a student is not able to attend
class. It is the student’s responsibility to inquire about make-up work for both classroom lectures
and laboratory sessions. (last part may be modified depending on whether or not, the institution
allows make-up work )
Tardiness and/or absence from any part of a class/lab will constitute a partial absence. A
total of three partial absences will constitute a full absence. (Number of absences may be
modified depending on school rules and policies, )

student handbook.

INSTRUCTOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. At the beginning of each course, the instructor will provide a course syllabus to each
student in the class.
2. The instructor will evaluate each student’s participation, assignments, assessments and
projects based on the grading criteria published in the syllabus.
3. Unannounced quizzes and special projects may be given at the instructor’s discretion.
