2. A technician needs to climb a ladder to repair a street lamp as shown in Diagram 2.

10. Lydia made a loan from a Community Bank of RM 500 000 to buy a house in Perak. The
bank charged an interest rate of 3% for a loan period of 30 years. After 15 years, Lydia
wanted to sell the house for RM 800 000. The total loan that has been paid to the bank is
RM 450 000 with the balance to be settled is RM 300 000 after rebate from the bank .
During the 15 years, she rented out her house and managed to earn a total rental of
RM 81 000. Other expenses involved are shown in Table 10.

11. Diagram 11 shows an arena field for a shot put event in the SMK Jaya school level pre-
sports event. The arena is divided into three regions, A, B and C. No marks are given to
students who are only able to throw the shot in region A. 2 marks are given if students
successfully throw the shot into region B and 5 marks are given if the shot falls in
region C.

12. A shopkeeper bought x pens for RM 21.
a) Write down an expression, in terms of x, for the cost, in cents, of each pen. [1m]
b) The shopkeeper gave 2 pens to his sons and sold each of the remaining pens at 8 cents
more than he paid for it. Write down an expression, in terms of x, for the selling price
of each pen. [1m]
c) The shopkeeper made a profit of 16 cents from the sale of the pens. Form an equation in
terms of x and show that it reduces to 𝑥 − 4𝑥 − 525 = 0. [3m]

15.a ) A class of 30 students are surveyed to find out which subject they like among the three
subjects, Mathematics , Science and English. The survey are tabulated below.

Mathematics and English, 6 students like both Science and English and x students like all
three subjects. Given that the total number of students who like only one subject is 12,

b) Diagram 15 shows the graph of 6 supermarket at Damansara. Distance between the

Answer ALL questions in this section

16. John and Peter plan to build a barn for their Feedlot cattle farming. They have drawn
the barn on a square grid of a scale of 1 cm to 2 metres and labeled as ABCD as in
diagram 16 in the answer space. [Use 𝜋 = ]
a) They plan to build a roof for part of the barn. In Diagram 16 in the answer space, draw
and shade the area if the roof is always 14 metres from A. [2 m]
b) i)John and Peter used the services of a licensed contractor to build the roof of the barn
at a cost of RM 90 per square metre of the construction. Calculate the cost that they
have to provide. [3 m]
ii) In January 2018, John had saved RM 12 000 in a saving account at Bank Pacific at a
rate of 4.05 % per annum and compounding every 3 months. At the end of December
2022, he wants to withdraw all of his savings to be used as capital to pay for the
contruction cost of the roof of the barn. Based on your answer in b(i), determine
whether his total savings are sufficient to pay for the contruction costs set by the
contractor. [3 m]
c) After the contruction of the roof for the barn is completed, John and Peter plan to build
a cylindrical water tank with a radius of 75 cm to facilitate cleaning works and also a
source of cattle drink. Calculate the height of the water tank in cm that needs to be
built if the total volume of the tank is 2598.75 litres.

d) John and Peter have managed the company jointly. In the contract, they agreed to keep
50% of the profit as reinvestment and the remaining 50 % of the profit(given as cash)
was divided to John and Peter in a ratio of 3: 2. At the end of 2022, their company had
earned a profit of RM 170 000. How much cash profit was earned by John at the end
of 2022. [3 m]
