1.7 COORDINATION

A. Coordinate cement-based screed with requirements of finish flooring products, including

adhesives, specified in Division 9 Sections.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS

2.1 SCREED MATERIALS

A. Cement: ASTM C 150, Type 1 or BS EN 197-1, ordinary Portland cement of gray color,
42.5 N.

B. Normal-Weight Aggregates: BS EN 12620:2002+A1:2008.

1. Sand: Grading and fine limits according to approved design mix, but with 100% pass-
ing sieve size 4.76 mm sieve.
2. Aggregates for Fine Concrete Screeds: 10 mm maximum aggregate size.

C. Water: BS EN 1008: 2002 or BS 3148 except for bacteriological limits, potable and at a
temperature of not more than 21 ºC.

D. Acrylic-Bonding Agent: ASTM C 1059, Type II, non-redispersible, acrylic emulsion or sty-
rene butadiene.

E. Chemical Admixtures: BS EN 934 Parts 1 and 2. Liquid-type admixtures certified by manu-

facturer to be compatible with other admixtures and containing no calcium chloride or more
than 0.15 percent water-soluble chloride ions or other salts by weight of admixture.

F. Cleavage Membrane: Polyethylene sheeting, ASTM D 4397, 0.10 mm thick.

2.2 REINFORCEMENT

A. Fibrous Reinforcement: 100 % virgin polypropylene, fibrillated fibers containing no re-

processed olefin materials and specifically manufactured to an optimum gradation for use as
concrete secondary reinforcement. Fibrous reinforcement shall have the following proper-
ties:

1. Specific Gravity: 0.91.

2. Tensile Strength: 345 - 758 N/mm2.
3. Use for leveling screed less than 70 mm deep screeds.

B. Welded Steel Fabric Reinforcement (Metal Reinforcement): Welded steel fabric for rein-
forcement of concrete or screed as follows:

1. Reference Standard: BS 4483.

2. Material: Galvanized plain mild steel wire.
3. Form: Flat sheets.
4. Wire Diameter: 6.00 mm.
5. Pitch: 200 mm in both directions, square mesh.
