! For prevention of pollution
– Apply the STCW principles at all times
– Ensure adequate watchkeeping arrangements
– Observe the ICS Bridge Procedures Guide
– Proceed at a safe speed at all times

Rule 5 - Look-out
– Be aware of the manoeuvring characteristics
of the vessel
" Stopping distance
" Stopping time
" Different handling characteristics
" Etc.
– Take all precautions to prevent pollution
– Do NOT act as the sole look-out during
darkness or restricted visibility
– Get assistance of a separate look-out man
