“You’re too fat, don’t eat too much”

“You’re too skinny, are you anorexic?”

“You’re just a girl, you’re weak”
“Don’t wear makeup you look like a whore”

These are some of the nasty words I've heard growing up. But am I really like that? or I
am what they call a powerful woman. When I'm neat and presentable, I get a boost of
confidence and believe that no one would say anything negative about me since I am
well groomed, but I am wrong because a lot of people still criticize and judge me based
on how I look and based on my gender.

If you are a girl, you must play the game. What kind of game? We are allowed to be
pretty, to be cute and sexy. But don’t act too smart, too genuine, too loving, or better yet
don’t have an opinion. As a member of the women society, we have been so oppressed
for a very long time and some of us believed that we should get a man to back up us to
get the job done. From there, I want to promote feminism, which advocates women's
equality, rights, and liberation. I want to be one of the voice that tells everyone that
being a woman is the most wonderful thing in the world. I want to show that women
are capable of achieving success in the male-dominated environment. Women are not
just a women there is no such thing as “BABAE KA LANG” or in English “YOU ARE
JUST A GIRL”.

As women, we have to start appreciating our own worth and each other’s worth
because we all know that being a woman is a hard job to be fulfilled. We should all be
able to choose what we actually enjoy and what our hearts desire. Thank you to those
people who put me through hell, because your resistance made me stronger and helped
me become the fighter I am today. Thank you.
