    The Eiffel Tower

    One of the most famous constructions (CONSTRUCT) in the world must be the Eiffel Tower in Paris. It
    was built between 1887 and 1889 by Gustav Eiffel, whose design was the winning (WIN) entry in a
    competition (COMPETE) for a new monument for the Paris exhibition (EXHIBIT) held in 1889. The
    huge iron tower was an abitious (AMBITION) idea for its time and it was the tallest (TALL) building in
    the world until the 1930s. It is centraly (CENTRAL) situated in an area called Champs-de-Mars, and
    you get an amazing view of the surrounding (SURROUND) city from the top. Surpirsingly (SURPRISE),
    not everyone is impressed by the Eiffel Tower, and it has received a lot of critics (CRITIC) from many
    Parisians who think it is ugly and attractive (ATTRACT) But for the thousands of tourists who visit
    Paris every year, its popularity (POPULAR) will always remain assured.
