Identification: multiple (5+) years or months along the axis.

Sample:

The given bar graph illustrates how the different types of telephone calls in the country of Finland
increased or decreased over a nine year time period from 1995-2004.

Overall, the number of phone calls using national and international land lines as well as that of using
mobiles was observed to increase during the given time period. Whereas, the ratio of local landline calls,
despite some upward fluctuations during this time period, remained the same as the initial proportions
by the end of 2004.

In 1995, the ratio of national and international calls was at it’s lowest at 4000 calls per year, which after
increasing at a steady pace in the next nine years, reached a peak of 12000 calls in 2004. Comparatively,
the proportion of mobile phone calls was the lowest among all three categories at only 100 calls per year
in the beginning of the time period in discussion. However, this number kept climbing at an exponential
rate each passing year and by 2004, the number of phone calls using mobiles was at almost 9000 calls
per year.

During this same time period, local calls using landlines experienced a steady increase from an initial
number of 12000 calls during the first 6 years and reached a highest point of 17000 calls per year in
2001. This ratio started declining at an accelerated pace during the next 3 years and as a result, by the
end of 2004, the amount of calls on local land lines in Finland was the same as that of in 1995, 12000
calls per year.
