Learning outcomes: After successful completion of the subject, a student should be able to:
understand the basic terminology in the covered topics and use it in explaining the
processes connected with investing money, raising finance for both firms and
governments, banking services and taxation;
name and compare several types of banks and securities;
express and compare the financial results of the companies using their financial
statements;
follow the business news regarding the performance of the Stock Exchange,
commodity and currency markets;
name and characterise several types of taxes and express their own opinion on the
different taxation systems and the role of government in the economy.

Evaluation: Continuous assessment (during semester) – including writing and speaking tasks, class

Final test – 40 %
