CONDUCT A SYMPOSIUM ABOUT HIV-AIDS AND OTHER STI

INFECTIONS

On February 17, 2023 8:00am Student Body Organization and City Health office of
Tacurong City Conducted HIV-AIDS other STI infections Symposium and City Health
office also conduct free HIV-AIDS check up/screening in the students of Sultan Kudarat
State University Access Campus, This is to make the students aware to HIV-AIDS, STI
and other infections and also to promote health safety, safe sex to the students. Marlow
Anthony B. Buenacosa Nurse III, Health Education Program Officer Designate discuss
the HIV-AIDS and STI to the students.
Mr. Buenacosa lectured on HIV or Human Immunodeficiency Virus infection is the early
stage while the AIDS or Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome the late stage of HIV
infection that occurs when the body's immune system is badly damaged because of the
virus, Most people who get HIV get it through anal or vaginal sex, or sharing needles,
syringes, or other drug injection equipment. The WHO (World Health Organization)
Most men get HIV through sexual contact, especially anal sex. Anal sex is the riskiest
type of sex for getting or transmitting HIV. Receptive anal sex is 13 times as risky for
getting HIV as insertive anal sex.
According to Mr. Buenacosa the STI in other hand or Sexual Transmitted Infections is
can Acquire only Sex like having vaginal, anal or oral sex with someone. Each year
there are an estimated 374 million new infections with 1 of 4 curable STIs: chlamydia,
gonorrhoea, syphilis and trichomoniasis. More than 500 million people 15–49 years are
estimated to have a genital infection with herpes simplex virus (HSV or herpes). Mr.
Buenacosa remind the students its really important to always practice safe sex, use
condoms and Mr. Buenacosa always use the saying "ISIP ISIP BEFORE YOU UNZIP"
to the students before doing a sex.
