A. Safety Instructions

1. General Instructions

Independently of the safety instructions given in these manual instructions, the local laws,
ordinances, guidelines and standards for operation of electrical equipment as well as for
labor, health and environmental protection apply.

The Five Safety Rules of Electrical Engineering must generally be observed during
operation of the products and components described in these operating instructions:

• Isolate
• Secure against reclosing
• Verify safe isolation from supply
• Earth and short-circuit
• Cover or barrier adjacent live parts

To work on switchgear where covers have to be removed, personal protective equipment

has to be worn for protection against hot gases exhausting in case of internal arc.
To select the protective equipment, the national standards and specifications of the
corresponding authorities and professional associations must absolutely be observed.
The protective equipment consists of:

• Protective clothing
• Safety shoes
• Gloves
• Helmet and face protection

2. Qualified Personnel

Qualified personnel in accordance with these instructions are persons who are familiar
with maintenance and operation of the product and have appropriate qualifications for their
work. Furthermore, qualified personnel must have the following training and instruction or
authorization:

 Training and instruction or authorization to switch on, switch off, earth and identify
power circuits and equipment / systems as per the relevant safety standards
 Training and instruction regarding the applicable specifications for the prevention of
accidents and the care and use of appropriate safety equipment
 Training in first aid and behavior in the event of possible accidents

Step 1.

Switch-Off the Circuit Breaker which will be rectified.

Keep Withdrawable VCB stays on Service

Step 6.

Dismantle all Contact Arms from VCB.

Undo / loosen Hex. Screw using Shock no. 24

for dismantling the Tulip Contact.

Remove Insert-Nut fixed on Contact Arm. Take a Screw M16 to push the insert-nut by
applying force using plastic hammer until insert-nut released from Contact Arm.
Purpose is to get access to Screw on inner side of Contact Arm.

Step 7.

Take out all wires come from Withdrawable (Cartridge).

Using Pin Removal Tool, take out pin wires which come from Cartridge on VCB Plug -X0.
Note: Take out only pin wires come from Cartridge as shown on schematic wiring below.

Make sure the pin not broken/damage

during removal process. Replace with
new pin when necessary.

Put label/mark on wire has been

removed from VCB Plug -X0 according

Dismantle interlocking part on Cartridge using Spanner no. 10-11 as shown in the
pictures.

Undo/loosen fixing screws (4 pcs) of VCB to Cartridge using Shock no. 17.

Step 10.

Remove the existing VCB and replace with new supplied VCB.

1. Move the existing VCB from the Cartridge

using Lifting Crane or other lifting tool and put it
on the pallet.

2. Put the new supplied VCB onto the Cartridge

and fix it using screws (4 pcs) as illustrated in
Step 9.

NOTICE

To complete the installation of New VCB please follow the instruction in

reverse order from Step 9 until Step 6.

Pay attention on Tightening Torque value of the following:

- Fixing Screws of VCB on the Cartridge: 50 NM.

- Fixing Screws of Contact Arm on VCB Contact Pole: 110 NM.

Replacement of VCB is completed at this Stage

The VCB is now in Service Position

Ready to Switch ON the VCB for operation

D. Cleaning

When replacement work is done, do cleaning the object from dust and any dirt possibly
produced during installation/rectification using vacuum cleaner and cleaning agent.

E. Final Check and Function Test

Final check shall be observed to make sure the replacement work has been carried out
properly in accordance with provided Instruction.

Mechanical and electrical function test shall be performed according to the functionality of
what has been carried out.

NOTICE

Withdrawable Function Test:

Try to operate withdrawable VCB for Rack-Out (Test) and Rack-In

(Service) position to verify movement of withdrawable is GOOD.

CAUTION

VCB Function Test:

Function Test CLOSE and OPEN (ON/OFF) VCB must be done ONLY
with Withdrawable in Test Position (Rack-Out).

DO NOT Test CLOSE and OPEN VCB when withdrawable is in Service
