Vibratory Pump
SMCS - 5070-010; 5070-015; 5070-016

Remove & Install Vibratory Pump

At operating temperature, the hydraulic oil tank is hot and under

pressure. Hot oil can cause burns. Remove the fill plug only when the
engine is stopped and when the fill plug is cool enough to touch with
your bare hands.

NOTE: Identify all hydraulic lines as they are removed for reinstallation purposes. Cap and plug all
lines and fittings to prevent any contaminants from entering the hydraulic system.

1. Remove the door on the right side of the engine compartment. See the topic, "Remove & Install
Hood & Door Assembly".

2. Remove panel (10).

3. Connect a hose to valve (13) and drain hydraulic tank (12). The capacity of the hydraulic tank is
117.5 liters (31 gallons).

4. Remove four hydraulic hoses (1). Disconnect wire (2).

5. Remove bracket (3). Attach a lifting device to the pump. Remove the two bolts from the front
mount flange and use the lifting device to remove the pump. The weight of the pump is 39 kg (85 lb).

NOTE: For installation of the vibratory pump, reverse the removal steps.

NOTICE

Dirt can damage pump components. Be sure the pump is clean and free
of dirt and debris prior to disassembly. Perform the disassembly and
assembly procedure on a clean work bench. Scribe a line on the pump
case to aid the orientation of pump components on assembly.

1. Loosen nut (3) and leave about six threads engaged. Do not remove nut (3) at this time. Remove

NOTICE

Thoroughly clean and inspect the pump housing and all parts prior to
assembly. Perform the assembly on a clean work bench and lightly
lubricate all moving parts with clean hydraulic oil prior to assembly.

NOTE: Photo does not show mechanical stop bolts.

1. Remove end cap (43) and the seal rings on the end to be installed in the housing first. Install the
servo into the housing with the end without the seal rings first and push the servo through so that end
is exposed on the other side.

2. Install seal ring (48) on the servo piston and push the piston back in the housing.

3. Install end caps (43) with bolts (42). Tighten bolts (42) to a torque of 14-18 N·m (10-13 lb ft).
Install valve (44) and tighten to a torque of 136-231 N·m (100-170 lb ft).

NOTICE

When installing needle bearing (41), the printed or numbered end of

the bearing cage must face the press.

4. Press needle bearing (41) into the housing with a suitable press. When installed correctly, the
needle bearing will protrude from the inside surface of the housing from 2-2.5 mm (0.08-0.10 in) to
serve as a pilot for the valve plate.

5. Install the cylinder block spring components and use a press to install the retaining ring.

6. Install valve plate (40) with pliers (A). Make sure the valve plate sits down on the valve plate pin.

NOTICE

In Step 11, be certain all parts are properly aligned. Damage to the
swashplate or front cover will occur if the front cover is forced into
position on the housing.

NOTE: When the shaft and front cover are properly installed, the cylinder block spring will hold the
cover away from the housing a maximum of 3 mm (.125 in).

11. Install a new gasket (32) on the pump housing. Install swashplate (30) with servo piston slider
(33). Install journal bearings (34) onto the front cover. Slide shaft and front cover (29) into the pump,
while carefully aligning the shaft splines with the cylinder block splines.

12. Install cover bolts (28). Tighten the cover bolts to a torque of 54-68 N·m (40-50 lb ft).

13. Rotate the shaft to assure correct assembly. When properly assembled, a torque of 5.4 to 10.8
N·m (4 to 8 lb ft) will be required to turn the shaft.

14. Install adapter plate (1) with bolts (4). Install gear (2) and nut (3). Tighten nut (3) to a torque of
170 ± 20 N·m (125 ± 15 lb ft).

15. Install sleeve (27).

NOTICE

Position machine groove into dowel which is connected to swashplate.

Improper installation will allow the dowel to break off.

16. Position the O-rings on the electric control valve. Install electric displacement control (25) with
bolts (24). Tighten bolts (24) to a torque of 13-14 N·m (10-11 lb ft).

17. Position the O-rings on the filter adapter. Install filter adapter (22) on the pump housing. Tighten
bolts (21) to a torque of 22-29 N·m (16-21 lb ft).

18. Install spacer plate and O-ring (20). Install load ring (19). Install adapter (18) and tighten the bolts
to a torque of 37-50 N·m (27-37 lb ft). Install cover (16) and tighten the bolts to a torque of 27-34
N·m (20-25 lb ft).

19. Assemble the charge check and relief valve. Install a new O-ring (10).

NOTICE

When installing relief valve, be sure to place relief valve (8) in on an

angle and rotate into plug (10). Relief valve (8) is held in position by a
retaining ring inside of plug (10).

20. Install check and relief valve (7) in the pump. Tighten the valve to a torque of 136-230 N·m (100-
170 lb ft).

21. Assemble the charge relief valve. Be sure to use the same shims (13).

22. Tighten the charge relief valve to a torque of 136-230 N·m (100-170 lb ft). Install bypass valve
(5) and tighten to a torque of 9.5-13.6 N·m (7-10 lb ft).

End By:
