I. Problems solving: Solve for the following problems. Show your

solution in proper order.
1. The collar A in Fig. (a) slides along the rotating rod OB. The
angular position of y the rod is given by θ = (2/3)πt^2 rad, and
the distance of the collar from O varies as R = 18t^4 + 4 m, where
time t is measured in seconds. Determine the velocity and
acceleration vectors of the collar at t = 0.5 s.

2. The cable connecting the winch A to point B on the railroad car in

Fig. (a) is wound in at the constant rate of 2 m. When θ = 60◦,
determine (1) the velocity of B and θ˙; and (2) the acceleration
of B and θ¨. Neglect the radius of the winch.

3. The rocket in vertical flight is being tracked by radar. Calculate

the velocity and acceleration of the rocket at the instant when
the radar readings are θ = 40◦, R = 5 km, R˙ = 350 m/s, and R¨ =
100 m/s2.

4. The rod OA shown is rotating in the horizontal plane such that θ

=(t^3) rad. At the same time, the collar B is sliding outward along
OA so that r = (100t^2) mm. If in both cases t is in seconds,
determine the velocity and acceleration of the collar when t = 1s.

5. A radar gun rotates with the angular velocity of 𝜃̇ = 0.1 rad/s,

and angular acceleration of 𝜃̈ = 0.025 rad/s^2, at the instant 𝜃 =
45° , as it follows the motion of the car travelling along the
circular road having a radius of r = 200m. Determine the magnitudes
of velocity and acceleration of the car at this instant.

6. The driver of the car maintains a constant speed of v = 40m/s.

Determine the angular velocity of the camera tracking the car
when 𝜃 = 15°.
