To begin??
There are 2 ways to begin building the model in OLGA.

1. To start new file from sample – using completed model and

modify it to meet the project requirement

2. To start new file from ‘Empty Case’ – start from the scratch
professionally

In this training we will use the 2nd approach.

Objective 4: Define Fluid properties
• Fluid properties in OLGA can be defined by several methods i.e.
– Black Oil
– Compositional (requires PVT software Multiflash from KBC)
– Lookup Table
– Single component

• In this training, we will use Black Oil method.

OLGA Training M Zamrud Zainal 18 Dec

38

Black Oil configuration
To use Black Oil PVT method, the following steps are required:

1. Activate Black Oil Option in Model Browser-> Case Definition -> Options ->
Compositional
– Switch from ‘Off’ to ‘BlackOil’
2. To define Black Oil Component:
– 3 ‘BlackOilcomponents’ Oil, Water and Gas will be added to define each
phase involved
3. To define Black oil Feed:
• ‘BlackOilfeed’ to describe the inlet fluid stream that will be created i.e. for
specifying fluid ratio such as GOR and watercut
4. Assign the newly created Fluid stream in the model to the relevant nodes i.e.
Source of fluid, flowpath (for initial condition), etc. (We will do it later before we
run the simulation)
