Behavioral therapy

 Behavioral Disorders treatment


 There are two main types of Behavioral Treatment:
 Parent Management training & Psychotherapy
 Parent Management training has been shown to work Very well for children And teens With
behavioural Disorders. It is effectiv e When started early in Childhood or pre-teen years, but it is
nev er to late To change the Way you Handle your child or teen’s behavior. In many cases you
can access parent management training through a children’s mental health agency , a
parenting group or a priv ate therapist.
 Individual therapy or family therapy can also be effectiv e in helping to manage Behav ioural
disorders. Therapy can help change how a family functions and support parents and children's
or teen’s with figuring out the cases of challenging behav ior and talking about other ways of
handling them.
Medication For behavioural Disorders

 Medication treatment for behavioural disorder is targeted towards


treating underlying or co-occurring disorders such as attention
difict hyperactivity disorder(ADHD), depression or anxiety
Cognitive therapy

 Cognitive behavioural therapy(CBT) is talking therapy that can help you manage
your problems by changing the way you think and behave. It’s most commonly
used to treat anxiety and depression, but can be useful for other mental and
physical health problems.
 Examples of cognitive therapy techniques include:
 Activity scheduling
 Mindfulness practices
 Skills training
Interpersonal therapy

 Significant advantages of interpersonal psychotherapy include:Better


relationships :IPT can assist patients in realizing the impact their relationships
have on their lives. The two objectives are improving patients social
interaction and lessening depressive symptoms.
 Treatment plan: Time-limited(acutely,12-16weeks) treatment with three
phases: a beginning (1-3 sessions),middle, and(3sessions).The initial phase
requires the therapist to identify the target diagnosis(MDD)and the
interpersonal context in which it presents.
Psychodynamic Psychotherapy

 Psychodynamic therapy focuses on unconscious processes as they are


manifested in the clients present behaviour.The goals of psychodynamic
therapy are client self-awareness of the influence of the past on present
behavior.
 Foster understanding of the clients thoughts , feelings and beliefs in relation
to their past experiences, especially his or her experiences as a child
(Haggerty,2016)
Psychoanalysis

 Psychoanalysis is a set of theories and therapeutic techniques that deal in


part with the unconscious mind, and which together form a method of
treatment for mental disorders
 Treatment:
Treatment based on the theory that our present is shaped by our past. The
unacknowledged meaning of personal experiences can influence our mood
and behavior, and contribute to problems with relationships, work and self-
esteem.
