How to prepare for your Group

Case Assignment
4 steps - 20 minutes

By now you should have received an email introducing you to your group, your
roles, and the deadline for completing the assignment.

The group case assignment is one of the most exciting parts of the Advanced Level
learning journey. It is an opportunity for you to collaborate with fellow participants and
apply some of the Forward concepts and tools that you have learned.

Please refer to the ‘Group Case Assignment Workbook and FAQ’ in the menu on
the right for details of the group case assignment.

Participating in this exercise and contributing to your group work submission is a


mandatory requirement for completing the Advanced Level.

The below tips will help you prepare for your Group Case Assignment:

Aim to complete the Problem Solving Part digital course before


1 you start working on the Group Case Assignment to put what you
have learned into practice.
Watch the “Group Case Assignment tips and tricks video” in the
2 menu on the right to get practical tips on how to apply the problem-
solving tools.

Attend an optional coaching webinar: After completing a first draft


3 of your assignment and before submitting it, you will be invited to
attend a coaching webinar where McKinsey coaches will provide tips
on how to enhance your assignment. We will send you an email
with details of this webinar closer to the date.

Attend an optional case walkthrough webinar: After submitting


4 your assignment, you will be invited to attend a case walkthrough
webinar where McKinsey coaches will review an exemplary
submission. We will send you an email with details of this webinar
closer to the date.

Your deliverable as a group consists of 4 items - the problem statement worksheet, the
issue tree, the prioritization matrix, and the recommendation. Download the templates
from the menu on the right and fill them out with your group.

When you are ready to submit your group case assignment, please follow the
instructions below.

Only one member from your group should upload the assignment on behalf of your
group. We recommend that the group messenger uploads the assignment, but your
group could decide to nominate another group member to complete this step.

If you are not the group member who will be submitting the assignment on behalf
of the group, you DO NOT need to complete the steps below.
Prepare your submission by saving all the completed templates in
1 one PDF format file using the following naming configuration:
Group####_submission.pdf (for example:
Group0234_submission.pdf).

Complete this submission form. The group member who will submit
2 on behalf of the group should complete the following submission
form and upload the PDF file in the relevant question in this
submission
form: https://www.surveys.online/jfe/form/SV_3KvCzydrayRFRI2

The group member who will submit on behalf of the group will need
3 to copy and paste the text of the group’s final recommendation
into a text box in the submission form.

Ensure all the fields in the submission form are completed


4 correctly. The personal information required (e.g., name, email)
should refer to the group member who is responsible for submitting
the assignment.
5 Please note that once the assignment is submitted, you will not be
able to delete, change, or edit your submission.

This “Assignment Completion” component will automatically be updated once the


Forward team confirms that one of your group members has submitted your
assignment. Please allow at least 1 week after you submit your assignment for your
completion status to be updated.

assignment.
