Multiplication of Vectors Dot or Scalar Product of Vectors

Scalar Product vs Vector Product Dot Product of vectors is equal to the

product of the magnitudes of the two
vectors, and the cosine of the angle
between the two vectors.

Take Note! Dot Product of Vectors

1. resultant of the dot product of two
vectors lie in the same plane of the two
vectors
2. dot product may be a positive real
number or a negative real number
3. resultant of the dot product of the
vectors is a scalar value

Solution: Solution:

= 5 *5 *cos53.130 = 6.4 *3.61 *cos85.030

= 15 =2.001

Or Or
a.b = ax*bx + ay*by a.b = ax*bx + ay*by

= 5*3 + 0*4 = 5*(-2) + 4*3

Cross or Vector Product

Two vectors are multiplied and the

resultant vector is called the cross
product of two vectors or the vector
product

Take Note! Cross Product of Vectors

1. resultant of the vector product
is perpendicular to the plane containing the
two given vectors
2.. resultant of the vector product is a
vector value
