CHAPTER 26:01

DIVISION OF TRINIDAD ACT

1950 Ed. An Act relating to the division of the Island of Trinidad.

Commencement. [1ST JANUARY 1927]
Short title. 1. This Act may be cited as the Division of Trinidad Act.

Division into 2. The Island of Trinidad shall be divided into eight Counties,
Counties.
which shall bear the names and shall comprise the areas and be
situated within the boundaries following:
(I) THE COUNTY OF ST. GEORGE comprising the Islands
of the Bocas, the Islands of Gaspar Grande, Gasparillo, Carrera
and Cronstadt and the Five Islands and all such parts of Trinidad
as are bounded—
On the East by a line commencing from the sea at a
point North of the north-eastern corner of land originally
granted to Bascilia Coa and running South along the eastern
boundary of the said land and the eastern boundaries of
lands originally granted to Luciene Casadilla, Edward John
and Basilia Romero and thence continuing South until it
reaches the crest of the ridge forming the eastern watershed
of the Madamas River, thence along the eastern and
southern watersheds of the Madamas River to Aripo
Trigonometrical Station No. 86, thence along the western
watershed of the Cuare River to that spur on which Palmar
Trigonometrical Station No. 87 is situated and along the
above-mentioned spur to the Aripo River and by the Aripo
River to its junction with the Cumuto River, thence along
the Cumuto River to the point where it touches the Arena
Reserve, thence by the northern, eastern and southern
boundaries of this Reserve to the north-western corner of
the parcel of land granted to Jackie Simon, thence by the
western boundaries of lands granted to Jackie Simon and
Laran to the south-western corner of Laran’s lands, thence
in a straight line to boundary pillar No. 6 of the Tumpuna
Reserve and by the eastern boundary of this Reserve to the

junction of the Tamana and Cumuto Roads, thence by the


Cumuto Road to its intersection with the northern boundary
of the Central Range Reserve;
On the South by the northern boundary of the Central
Range Reserve from the last mentioned point to the
Talparo River, thence along the Talparo River to the Chin
Chin Road, thence along the Chin Chin Road to the Arena
River, thence along the Arena River to the Caroni River,
thence along the Caroni River to the St. Helena Bridge,
thence by the Golden Grove Road to its junction with the
Caroni Road, thence along the southern side of the Caroni
Road to its junction with the Southern Main Road, thence
along the southern side of the Southern Main Road to the
eastern boundary of the Caroni Police Station, thence
along the eastern, southern and western boundaries of the
Caroni Police Station to the southern side of the Southern
Main Road, thence along the southern side of the Southern
Main Road to the Caroni River and by the Caroni River
to the Sea;
On the West and North by the Sea.
(II) THE COUNTY OF ST. DAVID comprising all such parts
of Trinidad as are bounded—
On the West by the County of St. George;
On the South by a line drawn from the point where the
Madamas Eastern Watershed meets the Northern Main
Ridge in an easterly direction along the crest of the main
ridge of the northern range and along the crest of the spur
of the said range on which Palmiste Trigonometrical
Station No. 419 is situated to the Sea;
On the East and North by the Sea.
(III) THE COUNTY OF CARONI comprising all such parts
of Trinidad as are bounded—
On the North by the southern boundary of the County of
St. George from the mouth of the Caroni River to the point
where the Talparo River crosses the northern boundary of
the Central Range Reserve;

On the East from the last mentioned point by the northern


and western boundaries of the Central Range Reserve to
Survey Station I;
On the South by the western boundary of the Central
Range Reserve from Survey Station I to a point due East
of the south-eastern corner of a parcel of land containing
200 acres granted to Edward F. Stone, thence by a line due
West to the said corner of the said land, thence by the
southern and western boundaries of the said land to the
point where the Guanapure River crosses the said western
boundary and thence by that branch of the said river which
crosses the Guanapure Road immediately South of Cogollar
Trigonometrical Station No. 43 to the Guanapure Road,
thence by the Guanapure and San Coco Roads to the point
where the latter leaves the watershed of the Central Range,
thence by the watershed of the Central Range to the Mayo
Road and thence by the southern sides of the Mayo and
Cedar Hill Roads to the Southern Main Road and thence
by a line due West to the sea;
On the West by the Sea.
(IV) THE COUNTY OF ST. ANDREW comprising all such
parts of Trinidad as are bounded—
On the North by the southern boundary of the County of
St. David;
On the West by the eastern boundary of the County of
St. George from the point where the Madamas Eastern
Watershed meets the Northern Main Ridge to the Central
Range Reserve;
On the South by the northern boundary of the Central
Range Reserve from the Cumuto Road to boundary pillar
No. 12 and thence due East to the Guaico-Tamana Road,
thence southwards by the Guaico-Tamana Road to Survey
Station Y8, thence by the nearest spur to the crest of the
Central Range and eastwards along the said crest to the
source of the Nariva River, thence by the spur running

approximately East by South to the eastern boundary of


the Central Range Reserve between boundary pillars
Nos. 519 and 520, and thence by the said boundary to the
Nariva River, thence by the Nariva River to the north-
eastern corner of the parcel of land containing 6a. 2r. 10p.
granted to Bartoodas, thence by the eastern boundary of
the said parcel to its south-eastern corner and then by a
straight line running East to the Sea;
On the East by the Sea.
(V) THE COUNTY OF VICTORIA comprising all such
parts of Trinidad as are bounded—
On the North by the County of Caroni;
On the East by the western boundary of the Central Range
Reserve from the County of Caroni to Survey Station D,
thence by a line running due South along the western
boundary of a parcel of land granted to Radgecoomar and
Doodharrie to the Poole River, thence by the Poole River to
a point on the said Poole River due North of the north-eastern
corner of Cat’s Hill Reserve at boundary pillar No. 2, thence
by a line due South to the said boundary pillar, thence by
the eastern boundary of Cat’s Hill Reserve to the south-
eastern corner at boundary pillar No. 3, thence by a line
drawn in a south-easterly direction to the north-western
corner of Trinity Hills Reserve at boundary pillar No. 1,
thence by the western boundary of Trinity Hills Reserve to
the south-western corner at boundary pillar No. 7 and thence
by a line drawn due South to the Sea;
On the South by the Sea;
On the West by a line drawn due North from the mouth
of the Grande Rivière to the Rochard Douglas Trace, thence
by the Rochard Douglas Trace to its junction with the New
Colonial Company Local Road, thence by this road to the
south-eastern corner of a parcel of land containing
249a. 2r. 23p. granted to the New Colonial Company
Limited, thence by the southern boundary of the said parcel
to its south-western corner, thence by a line due South to

the Mohess Trace, thence by the Mohess Trace to its


junction with the San Fernando-Siparia-Erin Road, thence
by the San Fernando-Siparia-Erin Road to the Godineau
River, thence by the said river to the eastern dam of the
reclaimed area, thence by the old course of the said river to
the Sea and by the Sea.
(VI) THE COUNTY OF NARIVA comprising all such parts
of Trinidad as are bounded—
On the North by the Counties of Caroni, St. George and
St. Andrew;
On the West by the County of Caroni and by the eastern
boundary of the County of Victoria to the bridge where the
Torrib-Tabaquite Road crosses the Poole River;
On the South by the Poole River from the above-
mentioned bridge to its junction with the Ortoire River,
and thence by the Ortoire River to its mouth;
On the East by the Sea.
(VII) THE COUNTY OF ST. PATRICK comprising all such
parts of Trinidad as are bounded—
On the North by the Sea and the County of Victoria;
On the East by the County of Victoria;
On the South and West by the Sea.
Included in this County is Soldier’s Rock Island, also
known as El Soldado.
(VIII) THE COUNTY OF MAYARO comprising all such parts
of Trinidad as are bounded—
On the North by the County of Nariva;
On the West by the County of Victoria;
On the South and East by the Sea.

Division of 3. The Counties in section 2 defined shall be divided into

4. THE COUNTY OF ST. GEORGE shall be divided into County of


St. George.
six Wards, which shall bear the names, comprise the areas and be
situated within the boundaries following:
(1) Diego Martin Ward comprising the Islands of the
Bocas, the Islands of Gaspar Grande, Gasparillo, Carrera and
Cronstadt and the Five Islands and also such parts of the County
of St. George as are bounded—
On the North by the Sea;
On the East by a line along the crest of the ridge
separating Mal D’Estomac and La Vache Bays to the main
ridge of the Northern Range, thence by the western
watershed of the Santa Cruz River to the Saddle, thence by
the ridge that forms the eastern watershed of the Maraval
River and that spur of the said ridge that passes through
Knaggs’ Hill to the northern boundary of Port-of-Spain,
and thence by the northern and western boundaries of Port-
of-Spain to the Sea;
On the South by the Sea, and by the City of Port-of-Spain;
On the West by the Sea.
(2) St. Ann’s Ward comprising all such parts of the County
of St. George as are bounded—
On the North by the Sea;
On the East by a line beginning from Maracas Bay
running South along the eastern boundary of Maracas Bay
Estate to the Main ridge of the Northern Range, thence by
a line along the crest of the Main ridge of the Northern
Range in a westerly direction till it meets the lateral ridge
running southwards and dividing the Santa Cruz and
Maracas Valleys, thence by a line along the crest of this
ridge to the north-eastern corner of Champs Fleurs Estate,
thence by the eastern boundaries of Champs Fleurs and
La Vivier Estates to the St. Joseph River, and thence by the
St. Joseph River to its junction with the Caroni River;

On the South by the Caroni River from its junction with


the St. Joseph River to the Sea;
On the West by the eastern boundary of the Diego Martin
Ward to the northern boundary of Port-of-Spain, thence by
the northern and eastern boundaries of Port-of-Spain to the
Sea, and by the Sea.
(3) Blanchisseuse Ward comprising all such parts of the
County of St. George as are bounded—
On the North by the Sea;
On the East by the eastern boundary of the County of
St. George from the sea to Aripo Trigonometrical Station
No. 86;
On the South by a line along the crest of the Main ridge
of the northern range from Aripo Trigonometrical Station
No. 86 to the Ward of St. Ann’s;
On the West by the Ward of St. Ann’s.

(4) Tacarigua Ward comprising all such parts of the


County of St. George as are bounded—
On the North by the Ward of Blanchisseuse;
On the East by a line drawn along the crest of the
ridge running south from the Main ridge of the Northern
Range through Trigonometrical Stations Guacharo
No.170, El Padre No. 168, Cangrejal No. 8 and La
Ressource No. 255 till it meets the Arouca River, thence
by the Arouca River to the Eastern Main Road, thence
eastwards by the Eastern Main Road to its junction with
the Mausica Road, thence by the Mausica Road to its
junction with the Caroni North Bank Road, thence by a
line due South to the Caroni River;
On the South by the southern boundary of the County of
St. George from the point where the last mentioned line
meets the Caroni River to the eastern boundary of the Ward
of St. Ann’s;
On the West by the eastern boundary of St. Ann’s Ward.

(5) Arima Ward comprising all such parts of the County


of St. George as are bounded—
On the North by the Ward of Blanchisseuse;
On the East by the eastern boundary of the County of
St. George from Aripo Trigonometrical Station No. 86 to
the junction of the Aripo and Cumuto Rivers;
On the South by the Caroni River;
On the West by the eastern boundary of Tacarigua Ward.
(6) San Rafael Ward comprising all such parts of the
County of St. George as are bounded—
On the North by the Caroni River from its junction with
the Arena River to the junction of the Aripo and
Cumuto Rivers;
On the East by the eastern boundary of the County of
St. George from the last mentioned point to the point where
the Cumuto Road meets the northern boundary of the
Central Range Reserve;
On the South by the northern boundary of the Central
Range Reserve from the last mentioned point to the County
of Caroni;
On the West from the last mentioned point along the
southern boundary of the County of St. George to the
Caroni River.

5. THE COUNTY OF ST. DAVID shall form a single County of


St. David.
Ward, which shall bear the name of Toco Ward.

6. THE COUNTY OF CARONI shall be divided into four County of


Caroni.
Wards,which shall bear the names, comprise the areas and be
situated within the boundaries following:
(1) Cunupia Ward comprising all such parts of the County
of Caroni as are bounded—
On the North by the northern boundary of the County of
Caroni from the mouth of the Caroni River to its junction
with the Arena River;

the Caroni River to the Chin Chin Road, thence along the
Chin Chin Road to the Talparo River, thence along the
Talparo River to the point where it crosses La Gloria Road;
On the South from the last mentioned point along La
Gloria Road to its junction with Todd’s Station Road, thence
in a north-easterly direction along the Todd’s Station Road
to the south-eastern corner of the parcel of land containing
14 acres 3 roods 36 perches granted to Coyratallee, thence
along the eastern boundary of the said parcel to its north-
eastern corner and thence by a line due North to the Cunupia
River, thence by the Cunupia River to where it crosses the
Chin Chin Road, thence by that road to its junction with
the Southern Main Road, thence by the Southern Main Road
to its junction with the Cunupia Station Road, thence by
the Cunupia Station Road and the Munroe Road to the
Caroni Savannah Road and thence by a line running due
West to the Sea;
On the West by the Sea.
(2) Chaguanas Ward comprising all such parts of the
County of Caroni as are bounded—
On the North by the southern boundary of Cunupia Ward;
On the East by the Talparo River from the point where it
crosses La Gloria Road to the northern boundary of the
Central Range Reserve;
On the South by the eastern boundary of the County of
Caroni from the Talparo River to boundary pillar No. 4A,
thence by the western boundary of the Central Range
Reserve to the Mamural Road, thence by the Mamural Road
to its junction with the Caparo River Road, thence by the
Caparo River Road to its junction with the Caparo Valley-
Brasso Road, thence by the Caparo Valley-Brasso Road to
its junction with the Chickland-Caparo Road, thence by
the Chickland-Caparo Road to the top of the ridge on which
Arena Trigonometrical Station No. 319 stands, thence by
the said ridge to the Freeport-Todd’s Road, thence by the

by the Southern Main Road to its junction with the Waterloo
Road, thence by the Waterloo Road to the point where it
turns South to Couva and thence by a line drawn in a
westerly direction to the Sea;
On the West by the Sea.
(3) Montserrat Ward comprising all such parts of the
County of Caroni as are bounded—
On the North by the southern boundary of the
Chaguanas Ward;
On the East by the Central Range Reserve;
On the South by the southern boundary of the County of
Caroni from Survey Station I to the junction of the Kanga
Settlement Road with the Cedar Hill Road;
On the West by the Kanga Settlement Road from the
last mentioned point to its junction with the Indian Trail
Road, thence by the Indian Trail Road to the Rivulet Road,
thence by the Rivulet Road to its junction with the Milton
Road, thence by the Milton Road to its junction with the
Couva Main Road, thence by the Couva Main Road to its
junction with the Calcutta Settlement Road No. 11 and
thence by the Calcutta Settlement Road No. 11 and its
extension to the southern boundary of the Chaguanas Ward.
(4) Couva Ward comprising all such parts of the County
of Caroni as are bounded—
On the North by the Chaguanas Ward;
On the East by the western boundary of the
Montserrat Ward;
On the South by the southern boundary of the County of
Caroni from the Kanga Settlement Road to the Sea;
On the West by the Sea.

St. Andrew. 7. THE COUNTY OF ST. ANDREW shall be divided into
five Wards, which shall bear the names, comprise the areas and be
situated within the boundaries following:
(1) Valencia Ward comprising all such parts of the County
of St. Andrew as are bounded—
On the North by the northern boundary of the County of
St. Andrew from the point where the Madamas Eastern
Watershed meets the Northern Main Ridge to Zeno
Trigonometrical Station No. 57;
On the East by the watershed between the Oropouche
and Matura Rivers from Zeno Trigonometrical Station
No. 57 to the northern boundary of the Matura Reserve
(proclaimed as Portion 2B of the Northern Range Reserve)
thence by the northern and western boundaries of that
reserve to the Melajo River, thence by the Melajo River
to the Toco Main Road;
On the South by the Toco Main Road from the last
mentioned point to its junction with the Valencia Road,
thence by the Valencia Road to its junction with the Eastern
Main Road and thence by the Eastern Main Road to the
point where it crosses the Aripo River;
On the West by the western boundary of the County of
St. Andrew from the last mentioned point to the County of
St. David.
(2) Matura Ward comprising such parts of the County of
St. Andrew as are bounded—
On the North by the northern boundary of the County of
St. Andrew from Zeno Trigonometrical Station No. 57 to
the Sea;
On the East by the Sea;
On the South by the Oropouche River from its mouth to
its junction with the Melajo River, and thence by the Melajo
River to the Toco Main Road;
On the West by the eastern boundary of Valencia Ward.

(3) Manzanilla Ward comprising all such parts of the


County of St. Andrew as are bounded—
On the North by the southern boundary of Valencia Ward
and by the southern boundary of Matura Ward;
On the East by the Sea;
On the South by the Sea;
On the West by the Eastern Main Road from the Sea to
its junction with the Guaico-Tamana Road, thence by the
Guaico-Tamana Road to where it touches the southern
boundary of the Trinidad Government Railway lands,
thence in a westerly direction by such boundary to where
it crosses the Cumuto Road, thence by the Cumuto Road
to where it crosses the Aripo River and thence by the Aripo
River to where it is crossed by the Eastern Main Road.
(4) Turure Ward comprising all such parts of the County
of St. Andrew as are bounded—
On the North by the Eastern Main Road from its junction
with the Guaico-Tamana Road to the Sea;
On the East by the Sea;
On the South by the southern boundary of the County of
St. Andrew from the Sea to the Guaico-Tamana Road;
On the West by the Guaico-Tamana Road from the last
mentioned point to the Eastern Main Road.
(5) Tamana Ward comprising all such parts of the County
of St. Andrew as are bounded—
On the North by the Aripo River from its junction with
the Cumuto River to the western boundary of the Ward of
Manzanilla, thence by the said boundary to the Guaico-
Tamana Road;
On the East by the Guaico-Tamana Road from the last
mentioned point to the point where it meets the southern
boundary of the County of St. Andrew;
On the South by the southern boundary of the County of
St. Andrew from the last mentioned point to where it meets
the Cumuto Road;

Victoria. 8. THE COUNTY OF VICTORIA shall be divided into
five Wards, which shall bear the names, comprise the areas and be
situated within the boundaries following:
(1) Pointe-à-Pierre Ward comprising all such parts of the
County of Victoria as are bounded—
On the North by the southern boundaries of Couva and
Montserrat Wards;
On the East by the eastern boundary of the County of
Victoria from the County of Caroni to the point where the

the Malgretout Road, thence by the Malgretout Road to
the Manahambre Road, thence by the Manahambre Road
to the Woodford Dale Trace, thence by the Woodford Dale
Trace to the Cipero Road, thence by the Cipero Road to its
junction with the Ste. Croix Road, thence by the Ste. Croix
Road to its junction with Kanhai Trace running southwards
through the Lengua Settlement, thence by this trace to the

Reserve to the Cunapo Southern Road;
On the East by the Cunapo Southern Road from the last-
mentioned point to its junction with the Naparima-Mayaro

with the Rio Claro-Guayaguayare Road and thence by the
Rio Claro-Guayaguayare Road to the Poole River;
On the South by the Poole River from the last mentioned
point to the bridge where the Torrib-Tabaquite Road crosses

by the eastern boundary of the said Reserve to its
intersection with the northern boundary of the Erin Reserve;

Reserve from the last mentioned point in a westerly
