HEADLINE: Arson charges dropped against only suspect

SUBHEAD: Statute of limitations expired

By Louis Montclair

For The Journal

Arson charges have been dropped against the only suspect in the case.

Adam Grainger, 39, was cleared of felony arson charges after an order for dismissal was filed by the

Tribal Prosecutors Office. The order was signed by Judge Lonnie Headdress, and it orders dismissal of

charges based on the statute of limitations expiring.

It took over a month from the order being signed to for Grainger to get back a vehicle that was

originally impounded as evidence.

When the vehicle was finally returned, Grainger said it was missing the back window and one tire

was completely flat.

In the Spring 2021, a fire destroyed a trailer used as an office by the Tribes Health Promotion Disease

Prevention Program in Poplar. The trailer is located on Doctors Row, and at the time Grainger was the

only suspect and had been fired from the program in a humiliating way.

When the arson occurred, Grainger said he was at home. The next thing he knew there were police

out at his residence swarming his vehicle and it was impounded as part of an investigation.

However, he said police never came back out and spoke with him. He heard nothing from the police

until recently, when he began pestering Tribal Police Chief Jim Summers about his vehicle, including

using social media to wrongfully blast Summers.

After getting a copy of the signed order, the vehicle was released.

Police have still no arrests in the arson of the trailer.
